Intercare (Irene) - Poor customer experience. Would NOT recommend.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Intercare’s (Irene) dental practice, characterised by poor service quality, unclear billing practices, and a lack of accountability.

1. Denied Responsibility for Follow-Up: Despite the short time frame between visits, Intercare denied that my second appointment was a follow-up for the filling that fell out shortly after the initial procedure. I would have clarified with the original dentist, but was informed she no longer works for Intercare. They refuse to acknowledge the connection between the two visits, so either they did incomplete work on the first visit despite taking several costly scans or the visits were related.

2. Unclear and Opaque Billing: I paid for services in the office, only to later receive an invoice for an additional amount. Intercare never mentioned during the visits that my medical aid had short-paid the claims.

3. Unprofessional Legal Handling: Intercare’s appointed lawyers, Fourie Gronloh Attorneys, never identified they were acting on behalf of Intercare, only stating their name, payment amount and banking details. I was forced to pay nearly double the original outstanding amount, with the threat of being blacklisted hanging over me.

4. Ignored Requests for Resolution: My request for call records—necessary to confirm whether the follow-up care was agreed to be billed (or if I misheard) — has gone unanswered for more than a week, not even being acknowledged. Additionally, previously phoning Intercare, I was told I’d receive a call back as the attorneys had left early on a Friday. That call never came. There was a lot of confusion with same of the agent indicating I had no outstanding amount, only later to realise that the dendistry and other services were on different systems.

This experience demonstrates a lack of professionalism and care. Trust is critical in healthcare services, and Intercare has severely failed in this regard. I would not recommend their services to anyone.
