Dr Elaura Merchant - Intercare Castle Gate - MISDIAGNOSIS

I was misdiagnosed by Dr Elaura Merchant as Intercare Castle Gate, Pretoria, last week Sunday 13/07/2025 at 12:00, she said I had shingles when I actually have impetigo… meaning the medication she prescribed to me did nothing and my rash got much worse (I’ve been struggling with this since 8/7/2025, I struggled for 5 days before seeing her).

Aa breastfeeding mom of a 3 month old it has made things very challenging especially feeding at night and to prevent cross contamination… It itches so badly I wake up during the night to unimaginable frustration.

I’m very disappointed and frustrated. I’m 30 years old, I’ve never had chicken pox to result to shingles (which I told her) and I’ve been struggling with pain and severe itching - oozing sores even reaching into my ear causing earache!

I was told at the other doctor (where I went for a 2nd opinion) that if I was diagnosed properly it wouldn’t have gotten so severe and that I would have been cured by now.

I paid R950 for this consultation just to get the wrong diagnosis. I made a google review to find that Dr Elaura has many complaints from other patients. I want a refund at the very least!

So so so disappointed. This has been so emotionally taxing. The rash is on the whole side of my face and other dots on the other side and on my hands now. This itching is worse than childbirth…
