Disappointing Experience with Intercare Wonderboom Junction

I would like to share our experience with the dentist at Intercare Wonderboom Junction to warn others to be extra cautious when it comes to medical aid authorisations.

When my husband visited the practice, the receptionist informed us that our medical aid would cover both the consultation and the procedure. We were told that we only needed to make a small payment for the portion not covered by the medical aid.

However, what was never communicated to us was that the medical aid had declined cover because the dentist was not part of their approved network. We later confirmed with our medical aid that they had informed the practice of this on the very same day as the appointment.

Unfortunately, this information was never passed on to us. Had we been made aware of the situation, we would have been able to make an informed decision before proceeding with the treatment.

To make matters worse, more than a year later, we have now received attorneys' letters demanding payment of the outstanding account.

We are extremely disappointed by the lack of communication and professionalism displayed in this matter. Patients trust healthcare providers to communicate important information regarding costs and medical aid approvals accurately and transparently.

My advice to others is not to rely solely on information provided by the practice. Always confirm directly with your medical aid whether the practitioner and procedures are covered before proceeding.

Based on this experience, we will not be making use of Intercare Wonderboom Junction again, and unfortunately, we cannot recommend their services to others.
