Service Level Agreement and Device Issues
I recently entered into a contract with Intellicell, a company that claims to assist customers with low credit scores. Initially, the service was satisfactory until I received my device. Upon delivery, I discovered that the device does not enter setup mode and comes pre-loaded with a Google account that cannot be removed. This is not related to the Intellicell management software, which I agreed to when signing the contract. Instead, it involves a Google account that has access to every app and password on the phone. I attempted to restore data from my old phone using a serial cable and restarted the device, only to find it rendered useless because the Android system requires the previously installed Google account to sign in. Despite making the initial payment and my first monthly instalment in good faith, Intellicell has refused to assist further unless I pay additional fees for couriers and endure weeks without a working device. Meanwhile, I am paying for a SIM card and data that I cannot use, as well as a broken device. Upon further research, I discovered that Intellicell may block devices if the contract is completed and the customer cancels without upgrading through Intellicell again. This practice raises significant concerns about the company's integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction. I urge potential customers to thoroughly research Intellicell before signing any contracts. My experience has been marred by unresponsive support staff and managers unwilling to resolve valid complaints unless additional unforeseen costs are paid. I am currently paying R349.00 monthly for a service I cannot use. If you encounter similar issues, I strongly recommend lodging a complaint with the National Consumer Commission to prevent others from experiencing the same difficulties.
