Selling of faulty car and bad service
I bought an Audi A3 from Inspectacar Lifestyle Motors in March 2020. The car made a loud noise when driving above 100km. I only picked this up after taking ownership as I did not drive at that speed when testing the car. I took it back and the salesman called Justin said that he would sort it out. After a day or two, I was called to pick up the car and was told that the problem was sorted out. On my way home, I discovered that the noise is still there. I also discovered that the oil light came on every two days and I had to top it up everytime. I took the car back again and was told that they will take it to the workshop to have a look at the problem. This was just before lockdown at the end of March 2020. They gave me a courtesy car after I asked for it as this going back to them a few times was inconveniencing me as I had to take the Gautrain and Uber to go to work and home. In level 4 of lockdown, Justin called me to say that they need permission to claim from my mechanical insurance. I asked him why they have to use my mechanical insurance as these problems existed as soon as I took ownership and it is within the 30 days of buying it. I even phoned StandardBank who financed the car to find out if the deal can be cancelled. They said I need to sort it out with the dealer and that there is nothing they can do. If I want to cancel I have to pay a R2000 cancellation fee. I decided to give them permission to log a claim with the mechanical insurance company as I took out this policy through Inspectacar Lifestyle motors when I signed the contract. The mechanical insurance company came back to me to inform me that they cannot approve the claim as the problem with the car was a pre-existing problem that has been there for a while, meaning that it was there before I bought it. I contacted Justin, the salesman, about the outcome of the mechanical insurance claim and he informed me that they will repair the vehicle at there cost and that it will carry a warranty. After about two weeks I called Justin to follow up on the progress of the repairs. He could not take my cal, but messaged me that I should contact the Manager, Imy, to follow up on progress. That was on 18 June. I tried a number of times to get hold of Imy, but to date, he has not returned my call. Every time when I phone the reception, they tell me that he is in a meeting and that they will relay the message to him to call me. I also phone Justin, but he informed me that he is not working there anymore. I have now no option but to hand this case over to my lawyers.
