Unfortunately experience with Infinity battery

Review for Infinity batteries South Coast

I normally don't like doing reviews, but I think this one is justified. I purchased a battery 7 months ago from Infinity battery in Uvongo. It was at a good price and came with a 12 month warranty. I do understand that you pay for what you get. I am completely paralyzed from my chest down and drive an adapted vehicle. Within the first 2 months, my car need to be boosted. I was lucky that I have a fast charger at home and these instances, it occurred at home. Then I needed to go to hospital and it was there, the first time it let me down away from home. I managed to get a boost from someone as I keep cables in my car. Went back to the supplier. He insisted that I produce an invoice. I went home, searched for two days and could not find it. Now, I am normally very particular with paperwork and remembered that the salesman did not give me an invoice. I called him and he asked whether he perhaps have it on record. He said no. I contacted the head office about this and the gentleman instructed my to return as the salesmen has to produce a reprint. (why could that have not been done in the first place instead of having me search for two days.). I returned and he gave me a battery on loan and said that he has to test the battery before he can put in the paperwork and send it to Durban. I left with the loan and went to the local mall. Low and behold, it did not start. Again I was lucky to find a gentleman to help boost me. Went back and the salesman found out that the loan was faulty. He gave me another one on loan and said I should come back as soon as it gives a problem. Now, remember, its the third trip to the store. And still have a loan that gave me anxiety. I was not well for some time and did not use the car for a few weeks but had it started every second day. When I needed it, again I have to boost it with my home charger. I went to the autoelectrician to see if there is a parasitic drain. They removed all the possibilities and did a draw test which was in normal spec. They tested the batter and without a doubt confirmed that the loan battery is holding enough amps and dropping to quick. I went back the the store (4th time). The salesman said he tested my battery, the one I bought, and he can't find any issue. Then advise I come back if it does that again then he can finally put in the paperwork and send it to Durban. A month passed and back to square one. I was just tired and worn out. Already struggling with health issues, I just did not have the energy to deal with this. Family helped me to buy one from Battery centre as I only rely on a disability grant. They again tested the first one i bought that the salesman said seemed OK, and it was not holding amps and gave me a printout. Although it was considerably more expensive, (Raylite R2300) it was a known brand which carried a 25 month nationwide guarantee. Although the battery from Infinity was still under warranty, I wrote it off as a loss and just did not want to deal with the anxiety of going back just to get another loan battery. For the next two days, I used the car to the fullest by using lights, air-con, the radio, rolling down the windows up and down and still it starts with a quick turn. I honestly think infinity batteries are made to last just for that year warranty it comes with and I was unfortunate that mine did not even reach that and it came with many, many inconveniences. What I can not understand, do they not keep new stock at the store so simple exchange can be done instead of a loan, used battery is issued and the procedure of testing before paperwork can be put in for an exchange from Durban. That I do not understand. I learned my lesson the hard way and certainly would not recommend Infinity batteries. Sacrifice and add that extra for a known brand. Btw. If I had originally just added R800 , I would have gotten a Willard, Exide or Sabat with a a 24 month warranty from a known dealership without all the drama.

Hi there Shaheed
We are sorry to hear about your experience and would like you to know that we have followed up with the branch and heard both parties.

Shaheed Peterson came to the shop(Infinity Battery Shelly Beach) on the 27/08/2022 to purchase a new battery for his BMW. I had gaven him the 3 options between the Exide, Infinity & Powermaxx. He had chosen the Infinity with the 25month warranty because it was on special at that time for R1000. About 3/4 months ago he phoned me and said he has a problem with his battery so I've told him to came to the shop with his vehicle. After a few days he came to the shop and I've asked him for his original purchase invoice and made a copy of it. I've told him I'm going to take his battery out and giving him a loan battery in the mean time while I'm changing & testing his battery. After a few days I have phoned him to come to the shop because his battery was good and couldn't find  a fault. He informed me that the loan battery is also flat and will come in as soon as he can. He came a few days later and I've put his battery back in the vehicle. Started & tested 100%. He thought the loan battery was a replacement battery for the faulty one and said that he didn't get an invoice so I've explained to him and he understood. About 2 months ago the battery was giving him problems again. He said that the vehicle is standing at some motor mechanic to replace his brake system and will come in as soon as he can. He came a few days later and I've did the same as previously. Again his battery tested good. I've put it back and tested good on the vehicle. No word from him since that time.it is believed that the vehicle may have a drainage problem or the car is just not being used.

Please contact the branch Shaheed and what you would like your preferred outcome to be and we can see to what extent we can grant you, your Request.

Best regards,
