Unreasonable assessment
During February 2015, Pietemaritzburg area experienced one of the worst hail storms ever with hail the size of tennis *****. A week or two later we had another terrible wind storm. As a result of both these storms my IBR roof started leaking extensively. A claim was lodged and Indwe Risk eventually got an assesor out to me. After much haggling they offered to pay only for my ceilings & painting but not for any roof repairs stating that the roof was old and had been leaking prior to the storm. As with any roof, admittedly, there is bound to be some wear and tear over the years, however my roof was not leaking since I had it repaired through a certified waterproofing contractor and I have been painting it and maintaining it since. Had the roof been leaking, I would have had more extensive damage to the interior of my home which has wooden floors and chipboard cupboards.<br> Compressed ice coming with that momentum and speed would surely cause extensive damage to the best of roofs. If other peoples roofs were damaged so badly being made out of clay and slate imagine my poor tin roof.
