Time to Rid Myself of Indwe!!!

Having been a client of Indwe for the past 11 years, my frustration has reached a point where I need to find myself another insurer. In October 2020 when I submitted a claim for storm damage to my property, I was told that I was under-insured and only a partial payment will be made out to me. Questionable as that may be, I had accepted the partial payment and immediately thereafter updated the value of my house, according to what Indwe’s assessor estimated during the last claim – which was R3.5m. This week I received a call from Team Lead Anneke Fourie, telling me: “I just want to let you know that you are entirely responsible for the insurance on your property and YOU need to ensure that it is adequately insured” Good advice as this may be, it smacks of hesitancy and uncer*****y which in turn increases my doubt. Especially when three months ago, Indwe Insurance had taken as gospel, the word of their assessor that my property is valued at R3.5m Insurance is there to give one peace of mind in an unfortunate event of loss/damage. The irony in my case is that Indwe has created more doubt in my mind than any thing else. I am tired of being treated as a “doubtful” client, why are my monthly premiums accepted with much ease but I can never get the proper advice from Indwe. I suppose it’s a grey area that Indwe revels in and uses against their clients, let them be under-insured so we can deny or partially pay out when the time comes.

In addition to this, Indwe took almost four months to refund me for the excess amount which I had paid. Their reason was, that they had lost the “documentation/claim” and asked whether I could resend my entire claim AGAIN to them. Lastly, to top it all off – Indwe doubted my claim (nothing new) and wanted confirmation of the date on which the accident took place.

And I am currently wanting to add on another property and a vehicle onto my profile.
