Indwe Risk Management - who not to trust as they will not treat you fairly

We have been customers of Indwe Risk Management since their inception and prior to that Prestasi Insurance. We have all our insurance with them including 2 cars, caravan, trailer, house contents etc. In early June we received an email from them advising that that as we had had over 5 claims on them in the last 36 months we would from the 1 August have to pay the first R1500 of any claim. I requested a claim history from Indwe and was advised that our claim history was: 16 Jan 2018 My wife's car was hit from the rear and the claim was R43,309,77. As the fault was with the other person I expected that Indwe would claim from his Insurance but as he was not insured this claim is attributed to us. 26 April minor accident fault with wife claim amount R7935,08. 19 October Leaking Geyser claim R11,209,95. 23 February 2019 Alarm and Gate hit by lightening claim R2829,57 08 April 2019 wife was forced into road works Ballard by heavy vehicle, damage to mirror R8605,96 21 March 2020. Burglary into garden shed. claim R1526,00

My big problem is as follows :

In the previous 10 years my wife did not have a single claim for her vehicle. She purchased a new vehicle and for some reason accidents occurred

In the past 3 years I have not had any motor vehicle claims.

The burst geyser is something that happens and like motor vehicle windscreens does not normally count against your claims history.

Lightening damage is an Act of God and the claim was only R2829,57

Motor Vehicle was a choice my wife had make either hit the heavy vehicle and face major damage or death or hit the road works bollard. Heavy vehicle did not stop. Claim R8605,96

The clam for my wife of R7935,08 was my wives fault as she did not put the hand brake on and rolled into the gate and the gate landed on top of the car.

We all know that burglaries happen more than every day in RSA and my claim was only R1526,00.

My main reason for this review is that surely any honest insurance company would advise you that if you made more than 5 claims in 3 years you would face a first amount payable.

Secondly when complaining about the claim for R43,309,77 when the other party was at fault but did not have insurance we were told that this was ' an :"Act of God" and it was not the insurers fault the third party did not have insurance. Surely if the claim is an Act of God we should not be penalized either.

Thirdly the insurer totally forgets that my wife had no claim for any vehicle previously for over 10 years.

And fourthly that we actually pay a premium to not have any excess payable

Is this the type of treatment one should expect that one obtains from ones insurance company especially when one has been with them for over 20 years. Also whose premiums are almost R2500 per month which over 36 months totals R90,000

Judging from the number of complaints on HelloPeter we are one of the many that are totally dissatisfied with the service. So now starts the long process of finding an honest and trustworthy insurance company.
