Salesman does not disclose facts about vehicle

I purchased a car for my sister from Motus Renault Roodepoort on 27 November 2020. We were specifically looking for an automatic car because my sister cannot drive a manual vehicle.

We looked at the Renault Kwid automatic. The salesman brought through a vehicle for us to test drive and both my husband and I took it for a short test drive.

The Salesman did not tell us that this car does not hold on inclines/hills. The car rolls back on any type of incline, no matter how small which does not describe an automatic car at all and one would think this is the main item to let customers know about this car.

We took the car to my sister and she was not able to drive it on any incline as the car rolled whenever she got to any incline, no matter how small the incline. Both my husband and I have been driving for a while so we did not notice the car rolling in the 10 minute test drive.

We called the dealership and the Salesman admitted to me that he did not know this is a problem with the Renault Kwid and he was sorry and he will find out what he can do. In fact the Salesman told me a few days later this is one of the main reasons many customers are returning this vehicle because it rolls.

We told him we are willing to return the vehicle and take a vehicle that is more expensive and also offset the on the road costs or even actual cost since we drove the vehicle to Durban to drop off with my sister.

We picked up the vehicle on 27 November 2020 and called them on 1 December 2020 about the what she experienced (4 days later).

We paid R 137 500 for the vehicle. We spoke to the Dealer Principle and he tells us that he can only give us R 115 000 for the vehicle as that is the trade value. He says he is only able to give us the trade in value of the vehicle as he is in the business of making money (after 4 days of selling the vehicle to me).

In essence we lose R 22 500 even though his Salesman sold a vehicle without giving us all the information about the vehicle. And wants us to take a loss of R 22 500 even though we picked up the vehicle 4 days earlier.

The Dealer Principle does not care about the fact that his Salesman did not let us know about the main feature about the car rolling (an automatic car that rolls), he only cares about the fact that he made a sale and making money. He does not care about the fact that we are willing to take a more expensive vehicle to offset amounts. He is only willing to take his vehicle back on a normal trade in value.

Large dealerships like this only want to make money and not care about customers or assisting customers. And they do not care about training their Salesman to give all the information about the vehicles they are selling. Making a profit is all they care about.

Absolutely horrific behavior and service from Motus Renault Roodepoort. All they care about is making money and the Dealer Principle is not ashamed to say it to his clients when he is ripping us off.
