People who sell service need to give ACTUAL service

My Renault Sandero Stepway (CA779858) was due for the annual service (mileage 26924 on 11 April 2016). I had noticed when washing my car that there were some rust spots inside the boot (tailgate). I also needed a new rear windscreen wiper fitted.

When I made the service booking at Cape Town Multifranchise, I mentioned both of these issues to the lady who assisted me on the phone. She told me, that she would order the wiper, but that we needed to mention the rust to the person we handed the car to at the date of service.

We did as asked. When the service was completed, I checked the service book and noted that an anti- corrosion check had not been done. Nor was any mention made about the rust we had identified. We then called your service department and reported the omission. We were told the person who did your anti-corrosion checks was off…..

Since that date in excess of 20 calls (probably more) have been made to the service department at Cape Town Multifranchise. We have been given excuses ranging from short staffed, to manager taking personal time off, etc. Eventually after all these calls, the car was collected and taken to have the rust removed (2 months later!). We were told that Cape Town Multifranchise did not have a courtesy vehicle available and that the rust removal would take 2 days. At the close of the second day, we were then told that they meant 2 working days. During this time, we had to incur addition costs such as Uber to continue with our own lives not to mention the inconvenience of being without a car. The morning of day 3 the vehicle was returned. On opening the boot we immediate noted a remaining rust spot which had not been attended to.

This was pointed out to the employee of Cape Town Multifranchise and he said he would get Faye to call us. Faye did call later and we expressed our concern that there was still rust that had not been attended to. We were told that the subcontractor would make contact with us to arrange yet another date to resolve the rust issue. To date we have had no phone calls.

I would like answers to the following:

1. Why is a barely 2 year old vehicle rusting - is there more rust we can’t easily see?

2. Why was the anti-corrosion check not done when the vehicle is currently under warrantee and this check is part of the standard service?

3. Why have we, as the client, had to make ………….. calls to try and resolve this matter?

4. Why, nearly 3 months later, is this matter not resolved?

5. Who is going to take responsibility for this and attend to our request?
