Dissatisfaction on a faulty vehicle transaction handling

I bought a car from the ImperialSelect Multifranchise in Pretoria on the 25 of May 2016, on the 27th of May 2016, I noted that the engine emmisions warning light was on and at which point I informed Jurie(the guy who assisted me with the purchase). I decided to take the car back to the dealership on the 31 of May 2016 as it had transmission related issues(it would sometimes not reverse and sometimes not go forward). They took it in for repairs as the issue was replicated whilst i was at their dealership.

The car was returned to me on the 02 of July 2016, and i was sent an email informing me that the transmission issues I experienced on the car was due to a faulty battery.

I drove the car and it seemed repaired at first, but 1 and a half weeks later, I started experiencing issues with the car's transmission again. I informed Jurie and Stefan of these on the 17 of July and they arranged for it to be collected. The car has since been with the dealership.

Out of frustration, I requested that the deal be cancelled, as I was paying monthly for a car i had not driven much, and I had lost confidence in the car...not to mention the emotional traumer. But Daneal du Plessis(the manager) told me that cancelling was not an option. I then asked that we rather trade the car in, I went to the dealer's website to choose an alternative car. Once they were done restructuring the deal for the new car, I was asked to pay an amont of of R20 000 to settle the old car's shortfall. This is why I have now been forced to review this dealership. I feel it is unfair for me to be expected to cover the shortfall on the old car as I was forced into trading it in.

I have been dealt with unfairly. I tried to address it with the dealership, and they told me that the only option is to either pay the R20 000 the old car's outstanding amount or keep the broken car.

Please help as I do not know how to proceed with this matter.

Regards,

Elelwang
