REFUSE TO GIVE DEPOSIT

IGrow is withholding on to our R11350 deposit. Basically our WHOLE deposit because they are saying they will deduct R3000 for repaints. Which is completely ******** and not stated in the contract. They are also deducting lease renewal fees which were paid. Our lease ended on the 30 April and we moved out on the 15th of May(because of lockdown) and IGrow wants to charge us for the entire May. They refuse to charge pro rata or anything. Instead they want to deduct the full amount. IGrow management is *********** and will not listen. All they care about is making money out of tenants deposit. They ask for proof that our lease ended on the 30th and I give them the proof but they find another excuse to withhold on to the deposit. If you value your hard-earned money, IGrow is definitely the wrong place to invest. They will ***** your money to the last cent.

Good day Nthabiseng  Our rentals manager has investigated your allegations and taken legal advice on the matter.

She has found that IGrow rentals acted correctly and has advised you to approach the rental housing tribunal if you would like to lodge a grievance. We will then provide all information to the housing tribunal at their request.
Kind regards

Below you will see the so-called legal advice that your rental manager asked regarding the matter. Karen requested legal advise in her favor. In her so-called legal advice she did not mention that we moved out on the 15th of May.

"I had a tenant that was on a month to month lease. She gave notice on the 30th March to vacate 30th April. She had left to go to Limpopo in the beginning March and did not remove her furniture and kept the keys. We managed to get her to courier the keys down on the 27th May – one of the keys were incorrect so we had to change the front door lock.We charged her rental for May month because her furniture was still in the apartment however she says she was going to return on the 30th April to remove her items. Were we in the wrong her?"

Good day Nthabiseng,

Thank you for your response.

After more investigation. She has still found that IGrow rentals acted correctly and has advised you to approach the rental housing tribunal if you would like to lodge a grievance. We will then provide all information to the housing tribunal at their request.

Kind regards,
