⭐ 1-Star Review: IGrow Rentals – Oak Corner (Avoid at All Costs)

My experience with IGrow Rentals at Oak Corner Cape Town was nothing short of a complete disaster.

From day one, the apartment was handed over in an unacceptable condition not even painted. When I raised this, I was casually told it would be done after I moved in. That should have been my first and biggest red flag but was desperate for a place.

What followed was months of chaos disguised as “maintenance”: • Random contractors pitching up at different times with zero coordination • Half-done jobs every single time • Lounge and passage painted… but not the bedrooms • Months later, only ONE bedroom painted in a TWO-bedroom unit (make it make sense) • Ongoing disruptions with people coming in to fix curtain rails, door handles, and the stove all separately, all poorly managed

This wasn’t maintenance it was pure inconvenience and incompetence.

At the 6-month inspection, I did THEIR job for them and pointed out: • Cracks in the walls • Faulty door handles • Incomplete painting

These were acknowledged.

Now here’s the real joke…

When I moved out, I was slapped with almost R4000 in charges for the EXACT SAME ISSUES I had already reported: • Painting and cleaning ( yes I did clean) • Door handles ( bedroom handles mechanism jammed without being locked ) • Curtain rails • Cracks and wall damage • Even a stove globe and under-sink lining

So let me get this straight you fail to maintain your own property, ignore reported issues, then bill the tenant for your negligence? The audacity is unmatched.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, when I disputed this, the level of rudeness I received was shocking. I was dismissed and told I am “not known” to them because the lease was under my boyfriend’s name despite being listed as a resident and dealing with them throughout the entire lease. Rent was debited on my bank account mind you!

Unprofessional. Disorganized. Dismissive. And frankly, exploitative.

IGrow Rentals does not take accountability, does not communicate properly, and clearly has no issue charging tenants for their own failures.

Please do yourself a favour and stay far away. If multiple contractors showing up in “drips and drabs,” unfinished work, and surprise charges at the end of your lease sound like a nightmare, it’s because it is.
