Power Surge damage - give me run around

<p>We had a power surge at our home due to cable theft. We had globes exploded, electrical damage, electronic damage. I contacted Iemas and was told to take all the damaged goods to a repairer. They have to do a damage report on each of the items. I contacted the local Electronics shop and they will be able to do that, but I have to pay a fee of R300.00 per item. This means I have to take time of work, take ALL the stuff out the house and pay the damage report per item. I have at least 15 items as discussed with the Electronic shop. I always thought that the insurer will send a assessor out to the premises to make an assessment on damages or a contractor to collect the damaged goods for assessment. But no I have to take unpaid leave from my employer to do all. I have a huge loss financially. Is this the way it should work?</p>
