ibits = the most nonsensical ISP on-boarding and application process I've every come across
I tried to enquire regarding the installation and setting up an account and the support via email and over the phone was shocking. Their application process is archaic and they require you to take your router to them (if you opt-out of buying one of theirs...) in Wellington, which is a huge inconvenience and a very poorly veiled attempt to get people to use their routers.
I'm not even sure the this is correct because it boggles the mind if it is, but the person I spoke to made it sound like it wouldn't be possible to set up the router on the day of installation or over the phone if I use my own router. Now, I've set up routers countless times and it really isn't a difficult process so why it would be necessary for them to receive my router first instead of just assisting on the day while the reps are doing the installation or assist over the phone seems ridiculous.
They were recommended to me by a friend but after less than 30min on their website and on the phone with them it seems that either they make the process incredibly difficult because they aren't very clued up or because they want to corner customers into spending more money by buying the routers they supply.
I hope the person (who was polite enough on the phone but not very helpful) I was speaking to was wrong about the setup process as I would love to try their service out but not if it means jumping through hoops so that I can give them my hard-earned money.
Imagine going to a restaurant and then ordering a burger but first, you need to source your own ***, slaughter it and bring it to the restaurant before they'll cook it for you.
Not worth wasting my time on and I've received better and more user-friendly service from, believe it or not, Telkom! Truely disappointed.
