Worst Service Ever

I purchased a used vehicle from a dealer in Johannesburg in February 2017 and I am in East London. The vehicle was delivered to East London, but I did not do an inspection of the vehicle on delivery. I did notice that the left side mirror looked different to the other one and when I spoke to my husband about it, he said he had also noticed it. We emailed the dealer only 2 weeks later with complaints of the mirror, a dent in the bonnet and a crack in the windscreen. They were aware of the crack and had said that it has been repaired. The other 2 “defects” were not addressed and we eventually got hold of the Sales Manager who said that he personally inspected the vehicle and that they were not present. My concern is that the fault with the left mirror is NOT noticeable from the front of the vehicle and could possibly have been “missed” by the dealer and the dent on the bonnet is definitely an “old” dent that has been touched up.

The Sales Manager (Pierre) was supposed to have someone contact me about the windscreen 2 to 3 days after his email on 16th March and to date I have still not been contacted. I have also not been refunded for my R100 fuel which was not given to me.

On 27/03/17 I sent my complaint to the National Consumer Commission, who referred my case to the Automotive Industry Ombudsman. Hyundai Midrand came up with a solution and i agreed. They then had 15 days to finalise the job, which would have been on the 21st June 2017. On the 26th June I contacted the MIO and again on the 28th June and to date have not had any response.

On the 7th July I emailed the dealership as well as the MIO and the reply from Hyundai was "I am surprised that the job is not done . I have given a go ahead on the replacement of the windscreen and the dent repair on the bonnet. I will call the companies to find out why they haven’t started with your car. Although I told them this is Urgent matter." They gave me the contact details for the replacement of the Windscreen and asked me for my banking details.

On the 12th July I contacted Hyundai again and asked for contact details for the bonnet repair. They responded saying that the company would contact me. Dent Doctor contacted my to bring my car in for a quote, but that wasn't the original 2 places that had quoted for the repairs, so I sent another email asking for an explanation to which no one has responded.

Today (13th July) Dent Doctor contacted me to bring my car in and said i don't need to get a quote, they have been instructed to just go ahead and do the repair as the other companies have not gotten back to them.

Why did he have to lie about it? Why not just tell me what the story is and keep me in the loop. Unfortunately they have only seemed to do anything when I have contacted them, hoping that the situation would just go away.

What is more disturbing is the MIO has not done anything to help the situation. I have tried calling them, but haven't been able to speak to the person handling the case.

I am absolutely DISGUSTED that there are people and businesses that just couln't care.
