Worst Customer Service at Hyundai Springfield

It is with utmost dismay and disappointment that i address these disturbing series of events.

I had purchased a Hyunda i10 on Saturday, 07th January 2017, purchase price R131 339.12.

I had picked it up on Saturday from the dealership and was assisted by Dhasegan, a salesman at the dealership (Hyundai Springfield). Upon driving the vehicle home there were a few faults which i detected:

*Wind sound from front windscreen

*Cover bottom on front windscreen had a crack

*Rear right noise from shock

I did not purchase the vehicle in knowledge of these faults. I therefore contacted Dhasegan, and reported these faults to him. Dhasegan told me he was going to check when he can "book" the vehicle in and call me back. A few hours later he advised that he spoke to his service booking manager and the earliest booking was on the 24/01.17. I naturally did not want this vehicle repaired and returned to me, after having invested R131 339.12 in it. I therefore requested to change the vehicle. Dhasegan advised me that this would not be a problem, however he would need the car to be assessed and then he would sort it out. I further told Dhasegan to advise his manager of our agreement, as i did not want any hassles with this replacement. On the 23rd i contacted Dhasegan to make arrangements to get the car to them as to my knowledge the car is getting booked on the 24th, as confirmed by Dhasegan. To my amazement, Dhasegan asks ME if i booked the car in??? There was NO communication whatsoever indicating that i had to book the car in MYSELF!!?? The only thing i was told was that the earliest booking was for the 24th. What sort of backyard dealership expects their client to book in the vehicles for assessment a day after purchasing with finding fault and NOT EVEN ADVISING them of this. When i questioned this, Dhasegan told me he would get back to me, which he did a few hours later, advising that he checked with the sevice manager and the next free booking would now be on the 29th.

Having no option at this point, i agreed for it to be booked in on the 29th. i never failed to emphasize that I DID NOT WANT THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE REPAIRED AND RETURNED TO ME. This "book in" should ONLY be part of the assessment process that would happen prior to the change of vehicles as discussed, confirmed and re-assured by Dhasegan.

There was NO WAY, i was going to accept this vehicle back as from the initial waiting period for a booking ie. 09th-23rd these were additional faults found:

#FRONT REAR SHOCK/BUFFER NOISY

#FRONT WINDSCREEN, WIND NOISE

#RADIO FLICKS CHANNELS WHILE DRIVING

#WIPERS FRONT AND REAR TO BE REPLCED

#MICROPHONE CLIP, CAR DID NOT COME WITH ONE WHEN PURCHASED

WINDSCREEN TRIM BELOW WIPER CRACKED

CAR IDLES AT 2000RPM AT TIMES

#WHEN CLUTCH IS PRESSED IN, ALSO BECOMES ROUDY WHEN RELEASING(KNOCKING SOUND)

#SUSPENSION NEEDS TO BE CHECKED AS THERE IS VIBRATION AT 120KM ON THE STEERING

#3 DIFFERENT TYRE BRANDS ON THE VEHICLE

#CAR NOT FUEL EFFICIENT, AND POWER LOSS AT TIMES

#AIRCON TAKES LONG TO GET COLD

#WINDSCREEN NOT ORIGINAL

#B PILLAR - RATTLING NOISE

Who in their right frame of mind spending that amount of money is seriously going to even consider keeping a vehicle like this after having detected these faults? The car proceeds to go for it's assessment on the 29th at approximately 6:30AM. I thereafter received a call around 2PM from Dhasegan, this very same day the car went in for an assessment, telling me THAT ALL THE FAULTS I HAD LISTED WERE FOUND, REPAIRED AND SORTED??!! This is unprecedented.......truly. The only fault they were humble enough to admit was that the windscreen was shatterproof regardless of it not being original and therefore cannot be treated as a defect. I then questioned why the courtesy of informing me on the repairs as my arrangement was strictly to assess and replace. Dhasegan, knowing full and well of our arrangements tells me he will speak to his manager and inform him that i dont want THE REPAIRED CAR BACK....wait... didnt we already have this conversation??????

Dhasegan then calls that evening having spoken to his manager as well as the dealer principal advising there is unfortunately nothing that can be done as the vehicle has been repaired and I HAVE to take it back. What was the purpose of my reiterating this ONLY ONE point, and continuous phone calls and agitation if the only thing i asked for which was agreed for in plain and proper english cannot now NOW be given to me. I am FURIOUS. i was explicit on this point. I did not want their faulty vehicle and i most certainly am not going to pay within that price bracket for it. I refused to accept the vehicle back and was thereafter THREATENED into taking it back as"the dealership exhumes itself from responsibility should any further damage come to the vehicle". I thereafter BEING PUT IN THIS CORNER agreed for the vehicle to be returned. I did however tell the salesperson Dhasegan, that i will do what it takes to get the vehicle returned.

That evening, the vehicle is dropped off at my place and the keys were handed over to my mum. Upon arriving home, the first and only thing i bothered to look at was the tyres, which were still different brands. After being told that ONLY THE WINDSCREEN OF THE VEHICLE WASNT CHANGED, i just lost any and all hope of checking further.

Is this putrid display of deception the ONLY tactics Hyundai dealerships have left to ensnare their clients with??? As customer service, principles, ethical and professional behaviour was a cry from anything i have experienced. I am truly appalled at the GORE of this dealership and it's management at considering that i would accept their s****s and pay THEM over R100K just to keep it...? As a South African consumer i am well aware of my purchasing rights and it appears that leniency i have displayed has been mistaken for weakness or ignorance. This is a courtsey i have lost my ability to exercise and therefore will find and follow through all the respective channels to expose the Hyundai industries and the mannerism of conduct, which is nothing more than pathetic communication and deceptive, misleading "after sales service"if there is even such a thing anymore. The consequences of dealing with Hyundai... LESSON WELL LEARNT!!!!
