When the strong trample on the week, my experience of poor service and deliberate negligence
When the strong choose to trample on the week, this has been my experience with Hyundai. In particular Hyundai Vryburg, but then again I don't think it's just them as from my experience.
It really becomes day light ******* in this country which we think crime only happens in corners of ***** streets by poor or wayward people, but then it is the same thing when you paying for a service and people make you feel like you supposed to just shut up and except everything that they do to you just because you are not as rich and powerful as they are. This is when I thought I'm starting on a new slate fitting in a new engine on my battered car due to overwork, on my part I know I could have done better but it doesn't mean dealers should just take advantage and do bad work just because they want me to pay more or buy a new car. I decided to buy a second hand engine when the cost and fitment of Hyundai's engine was costing me half of what my car cost brand new, what upset me is that I was provided with a qoutations not a job card that tells me what's wrong with my car and the probable options or solutions to have my engine fixed or replaced. When I asked for this people going up to the regional manager chose not to reduce it to paper, rather they explained the alternatives by phone when they very well know if you are not a mechanic you can't go and ask for a second opinion if you can't explain. I mean since when are qoutations explanations of what is wrong with a car, then worse you take advantage of explaining things over the phone instead of writing an email knowing well that you are the only dealer more than a 100 kilometers away and people don't have a choice to be there personally. When this was happening I called Hyundai south Africa to ask how they deliver service and if what I was experiencing was proper, they confirmed what the process was and directed me to the regional manager have me get proper service. But as I said she avoided giving a job card but explained by phone, what is worse is that I only received a job card to sign after work was done. This was two job cards by the way because I came there twice.
Then came the attempt to sell me a recon Engine at half the cost because I was getting one elsewhere, why was that not an option in the first place? And then came the overcharging by quoting things twice, once again taking advantage that I'm not a mechanic and can't see what happens behind the scenes and verify that indeed what they saying is needed is used.
The tip of the iceberg is that this engine did not even last two weeks, it overheated and blew a top from what others are speculating. When it first overheated I stopped at a garage to check and pour water, to discover with the attendent that the fan seemed to not been working properly. This as steam was going up in the air from the engine, perhaps from this explanation you might determine flows/fault on my part cause I'm not a mechanic. You'll be the judge. What upsets me even more is that Hyundai is hiding behind the fact that their parts were not used, since when does it excuse a person of doing proper work because people don't buy parts from you. The crazy thing is that Hyundai boksburg confirmed that it was bad workmanship and indeed the fan was not properly fitted, now after probably been told her place this poor worker changed her story later after I listened on loud speaker with friends as she corroborated my suspensions. I bet you she's probably gonna loose her job now or have it bad due to her being honest, all of my experience seemed that people took things personal as if I'm refusing to personally give them business.
Who protects us from these big pocketed multinational companies whom we can't fight if not having deep pockets or connections? especially when service becomes personal or about the language you speak or the color of your skin or how tall or short you are, when people become vindictive for services that you paying for from your own pocket.
