Vehicle Dealership Purchase Regrets: Hyndai

In January of 2021 I bought a pre-owned Hyndai 120 1.2 motion vehicle at Hyndai Plumstead, Cape Town. I was my first car to own, and as you can imagine I was excited. I was assisted by a man whose name I forgot, but later learnt he resigned and a sales person- Tatum When the vehicle was released to me I was not issued with a spare key. I was informed it will follow round about February as it was in another office.

I followed up many times on whatsapp and over email, and I was never assisted. I went back to their offices in October to physically follow up. I was told to come back on a different day and the issue would be resolved. What was needed was a key cutting and programming (as with the resignation of the first person that assisted me meant they could not find the spare key.

On the day of my return for the spare key, I waiting for about 2 hours for the key to be cut, only to learn that is belonged to a different car model, and was not appropriate for my car. I was told to come back on a different day, which due to my work I informed them would not be possible. They said they would come and fetch the car, so I let them, because I wanted my spare key.

While there, I took the time to inform them that my car was due for a service soon and I wanted to book it in for that, I highlighted that when driving at night my car's normal lights were not helpful (too faint for anyone to drive using them) and I asked them to assist with that. As I set in front of the sales consultant. She informed me that despite what was reflecting on the booklet with next service mileage, my car was over due for a service. Tatum was there to work that out, I was really confused because this was supposed to be my first service. I later got a call saying this would be my last service. To be honest, I still do not know what that means.

In any case I was given the same day for service that coincided with the day they would fetch my car for the cutting and programming of my spare key.

My car was taken for the whole day, only to come back with a key that was not programmed, the lights problem had not changed, I am internally wondering if the service was even done. Seeing that nothing much changed from the previous situation. I informed Tatum that the keys did not work, and she also tested when she was back with me to see that indeed it was not working. She left the key in my car to consult on a way forward. The following day she informed me that I would need to when I am in the Plumstead neighbor- hood come to their offices to get the programming done.

So after all of this up and down, use of my own fuel because I do not stay close in Plumstead and looking for a simple service and a spare key. I am still at the same place I was in in January when I bought the car.

The service I have received has been so poor, and there has been no effort from the branch to address it. I feel undermined because I am a young black woman who is a new car owner and well "know nothing about cars". I regret the day I trusted Hyndai with the purchase of a vehicle, and I am angry as hell that I still do not have what is due to me.
