Undesirable Practice
9th Sep I went to Hyundai Corlett Drive to see if I can trade in my car. I spoke to Nathi a salesman and he showed me 2 second hand i10's and I was happy with them. Alan the manager valued my car at R70 000 and I said ok. I then went to Nathi's desk to discuss what they can do for me. He said they will find out what my settlement amount is and see if they can add the shortfall on top of the i10. He then gave me a form to fill in and I asked why am I filling it in now, he said that he will put them one side so that when we proceed with the application I don't have to come all the way back to fill in the forms. Since he didn't take my payslip or bank statements I said ok then but don't do the application and he agreed. Monday 11th Sep he told me that they received the settlement amount from Nedbank MFC, I said ok add the shortfall of R30 000 onto the i10 we looked at and calculate the potential installment for me to see if I could afford it, and he said he will do that and once again I told him not to do an application and he agreed. 3 days later on the 14th Sep I messaged him to find out the outcome and he sent me a voice note saying they did an application on a brand new grandi10 and it was declined. First I did not consent to the application and second he did the application on a car we did not agree on. He then phoned me and I asked him why he had gone and done an application without my permission and he could not answer me. I asked him again he then said 'eish' and just put the phone down in my ear. I then went to the dealership again on the 15th and Robert tried to assist me but to no avail. Saturday the 16th I had a meeting with Alan the manager, Jaco the credit manager who had processed the application(and kept calling me by the wrong name) and Nathi. All they could do was apologise and could not give me a decent explanation. I need some kind of compensation for the horrific service I received and the damage that was done to my credit record. Yes I may have filled in the form but Nathi still went ahead and did an application on a car I did not agree on because I knew myself it would not get approved. Alan informed Nathi that they would not be able to add the shortfall onto the i10, but Nathi did not even inform me of this he just did the application on the new grand i10 without me knowing. If he had been honest with me from the beginning none of this would have happened. Now my credit record has been tarnished with a declined application thanks to a ********* salesman who only thought about himself and his commission who has only been working there for 3 months. I have been **** to and treated unfairly and demand compensation immediately. I have a hyundai i20 and am loyal to hyundai but if this is how customers are treated I will not ever buy another hyundai car!! The only helpful person in that dealership is Robert. The rest couldn't care!
