TERRIBLE SERVICE GIVEN TO AN ELDERLY AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BECAUSE SHE IS BLACK

MY mother bought a Hyundai IX35 from Hyundai Grahams town (Address is 51 Bathurst Street in September 2015, her sales consultant was Tanya Rossouw. She gave my mother a deal from hell so she blatantly **** to my mother, what was agreed upon verbally was totally different from what was written in a contract, she took advantage of her because she knew that my mother is a senior citizen and certain things she wouldn’t comprehend. She gave my mother a Balloon deal without explaining to her properly yet I had told her telephonically that a balloon deal will not be suitable for my mother, we requested a fixed rate and she eventually agreed to that but when the contract arrived the rate wasn’t fixed. The car and bogus contract was delivered in East London where my mother was and I was in Grahams town due to work commitments hence I couldn’t assist my mother to read it.

Two months later my mother picked up that something was wrong about the car, the performance was poor and on an uphill road it drove on a donkey speed, she addressed that with Tania and she dismissed her and questioned her driving abilities. The car in question is an Automatic and my mother’s driving had no relevance in this situation. Being an old person she trusted Tanya and she blamed herself. The problem persisted and at some point my Family was travelling and my father was the one driving and he’s an experienced driver, the same problem was still there and at some point my family needed to get out of the car because it could not handle the uphill. My mother contacted Tanya to inform her of the car difficulties she was enduring and she went ballistic on my mother. She offered no after- sale service nor sympathy to an elderly person instead she saw an opportunity of verbally abusing her.

My mother eventually decided to take the car into another branch of Hyundai (Kokstad) the diagnostic from them was that the car had been driving only on one gear (from the day it was delivered) which is gear number 4 and it was a factory problem/fault. This means that Tanya Sold my mom a car with a FACTORY FAULT and that leaves us no option BUT to make an assumption that Tania possibly knew about this, which explains her unwillingness to assist, her consistence in abusing my mother when my mom made contact with her.

Had she acted on time this would have been detected much earlier on to be precise within two months after the sale when my mom pointed it out to Tanya.

As if the FACTORY FAULT was not enough, when my mother decided to take the car to Hyundai in Kokstad for a diagnosis, their internal engineer findings were that the car was operating with one gear and it was a Factory Fault, he agreed to take the car in for repairs and offered my mother no alternative means of transport, instead he resorted to a blaming game escapades by saying the Grahams town was responsible to arrange a courtesy car for her and they also refused to offer her one, meaning that she had to get into a taxi and her safety was compromised because she arrived home very late. My mother was left stranded over a factory fault that Hyundai took responsibility for.

Now my first question is why would they not offer my mother a courtesy vehicle when Hyundai is responsible and has acknowledged that this was a factory fault from day one??? the mechanical issues that came with the car!!! Secondly my mom has been paying a full installment without fail for a car which has been operating on one gear and has caused unnecessary financial loss and emotional trauma.

This has proven to us that stuff from Hyundai South Africa is refusing to conform to Transformation. Tanya is a prime example that ****** and ill treatment of black customers is permissible. Consumer rights ARE not regarded, black people are only good for financial exploitation and it’s sad that after 20 years of Democracy Hyundai still takes pride in having people like Tanya as their Brand Ambassadors to still perpetuate that EVIL system of the past that didn’t honor a black life.
