********* Sale
This was my email to the dealership. I find the dealer principle Keeven Peters extremely unprofessional. He does not answer me back on calls. Promised to call me back 7 days ago. Didn't follow up and when I called him today he had no idea about my query, even though our last conversation was about how he will put this on his high priority list and will provide feedback. Does Hyundai train their people on their values or is it just for marketing?
Dear Hyundai Bellville
On the 11 December I took my Grand I10 for a service.
Bought the car new had no issue with it, was very happy with it. I was approached by Charl Valentine for a trade in as the sales guys normally do. I politely told him I am not interested, maybe I will come to him in 2 years time when I can afford a Creta however he was very persistent and asked me what am I willing to pay. I gave him my price and told him not to sweat about it as I know that I will not be able to afford a Creta right now.
Less than a week he told me he found me a Creta that matches my price range. I asked him is he sure and he guaranteed he has found me an outstanding trade in and I will be foolish if I do not accept the offer.
Upon inspection I noticed the car was not clean, and he told me not to worry as it can be cleaned the next day and I asked him all the questions, such as has this car ever been in an accident, how much owners, etc. He said no it was driven by one the of Financial managers and was a demo car. I trusted Charl I trusted Hyundai. I did not go to the dealership looking for a trade in, I was fine with my grand I10.
In January I scratched the left side of the car, and took the Creta in for repairs, that is when I was advised that the Creta had previous inadequate work done, the bonnet was filled with body filler and now has a massive crack in it. This was not shared with me.
You failed to do the following:
- The dealer is obliged to disclose known faults to the car. - The dealer must list all reconditioning that the car has been exposed to.
I informed Godfrey on the 13 March 2025 about this and it was agreed with the manager that they note the fault and apologized and stated they will correct it and used the excuse that Charl was new, the remedy was that they will find a suitable car for me of the same value and km. I have followed up with Hyundai several times however still no remedy in sight.
I am fully aware of my rights to return the car and start from scratch finding a new car. But why would I do that when I was happy with my Grand I10 I am now in a predicament of driving a car that is not worth the price I paid for, has a horrible crack in the bonnet, and have to give the car back and start from scratch as a match cannot be made.
