Repairs to Hyundai Getz a shock and an eye-opener!

Bought a secondhand Hyundai Getz 1.4 a couple of weeks ago and decided to take it in for repairs today (24 Feb. 2021) Basically I started having trouble starting it (because of a hiccup with the car's immobiliser system. I also asked the to replace a bulb that lights up the fuel gauge. I was horrified to hear that they don't replace bulbs, but must replace the whole instrument cluster (for one bulb!!). Late afternoon they informed me that they couldn't get the car started and I had to go back to them to show how I get the car started (it starts after 4-5 attempts - they should have known it - it's a common problem on the Getz. I also complained about the radio "losing" its station, even in built-up areas where the signals are supposed to be strong. The mechanic said he checked the antenna connection at the radio and there was nothing wrong. When I asked him whether he also checked the antenna connection on the roof for corrosion, he sheepishly stared at me! Basically nothing was done today and the car has to spend another day at Hyundai N1 City in Goodwood.

I just need to know whether these experiences are common at Hyundai dealers in Cape Town and that it's common practice to rather replace something that is broken instead of trying to fix it themselves or send it off for repairs?
