REFUND FROM HYUNDAI SOUTH AFRICA FOR COSTS INCURRED DUE TO THEIR CAR/ MECHANICAL B BREAKDOWN
At about 23h00 pm on the 27th of August 2018, i was driving from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town
I had experience a mechanical problem with my car and it couldn't drive, i called Hyundai and they came to fetch me and my car... because it was late, Hyundai asked me to book into a bnb and sleep in then carry on with my journey the following day.
The following day i then flew from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town , leaving my car behind at Hyundai for repairs. Did i mention? my car is a 2018 model, brand new from the box.
Whilst, in Cape Town, i asked Hyundai for a loan car as i had no car, they said no, they are not giving out any loan cars.
During the process, Hyundai informed me that the gear box died, they must insert a new one. this came to me as a surprise as the car is still fairly new and not even 8 months old.
After two weeks, they also informed that that the car was done and i should come down to Port Elizabeth to fetch the car,
I asked them of the refund for all the costs incurred during this process, they said they will refund me a lousy R500. I pleaded with them as i explained the following:
When stranded and booked bnb the cost was R850 (1 night) The following day i flew to Cape Tow, cost was R2400 Took a busy to Port Elizabeth to fetch the car R490 Drove from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town R700 petrol.
Ultimately, the will refund me only a maximum, lousy R5OO.
Total Cost incurred is about R4440, loss of R3900 should they refund R500.
They have not even refund the R500 which they claim is the maximum refund.
I spoke to the Road Side Assist Team Leader : Siphiwe Mnguni, who told me i will get R500 and Elizaberth Maloka who also told me i will get R500 and i should go to the ombudsmen and complain if i am unhappy , i quote directly from Elizabeth email, "Regrettably Hyundai repatriation limit is R500 which they will refund you a maximum of R500. Should you not be satisfied with the decision made, I would advise you to log this complaint with the Motor Industry Ombudsman for Arbitration on this matter."
I think this is unfair, and i have been treated unfairly on the following reasons;
The mechanical breakdown is not my fault, solely because the car is new; I did not have a car for two weeks, Hyundai did not loan me a car; The staff at head office was not helpful and were adamant that i deserve to be refunded R500 of all the costs incurred
I DID NOT EVEN GET ANY REMORSE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE CAUSED BY HYUNDAI.
I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THE COMPANY AND WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO BUY A CAR FROM THEM. I AM VERY SHOCKED BY SERVICE AND TREATMENT TO CLIENTS.
I NEED AND DEMAND MY REFUND FROM HYUNDAI THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND EMBARRASSING
