Poor Customer Service from Hyundai
I purchased a pre-owned car from Hyundai Pinetown in February 2016. When i received the car i had the following issues with it: 1. Alignment was off. The vehicle was pulling slightly to the left on a flat surface freeway. (NB: I had noticed this the first day I drove the car and asked if the alignment will be checked on the 101 point check). 2. There was a heavy vibration from 120km and above. Also when driving at 80km you can feel a slight vibration whilst sitting in the back seat. 3. Front and rear wipers were bad. Front - There is water lines when wipers are used in the rain and this is very distracting (Not wiping clean). Rear - Wiper blade makes a big noise when used in the rain and a lot of water lines as well (Not wiping clean). 4. There is a flat spot, intermittently, in acceleration when changing from first to second gear up a small incline. This also occurs when reversing.
The following issues were sorted under the 30 day confidence drive: 1. Wiper blades were replaced. 2. The car i had to take it myself to another Hyundai dealership in Umhlanga were they ran a diagnostic and found a drive train sensor error and fixed it. 3. The alignment was done which sorted the car from drifting left but the car still had a slight vibration in the back, when you seated there you can feel it. The Hyundai workshop said it was normal for these cars as the roads were poor in Durban.
First Service at 3000km: 1. I asked the service agent to do a full check up cause i was hearing a noise in the back close to the left tyre side while driving. After service they responded and said that the noise was just the seat catch at the back making a noise so they insulated it and it should be fine. 2. I drove for abit then still heard noises on the same side so took it back to Hyundai Umhlanga. The service Technician shook the car and said it was normal and the rubbers and joint may just be dry and needs oiling. So he reassured me theres nothing to worry about.
My second service at 45000km. I spoke to the service agent again about the noise. He checked and gave me a tyre advisory for the front right and back right tyres saying i should check it out. So i took the car for alignment and it was okay not off.
I was still not happy with the ride so i went back to Hyundai on the 23-09-2017 and asked to speak to a Technician / Service agent. I wanted to know if Hyundai could do a shock test for me cause the vibration was getting abit noisier. The Technician said they do not do shock test on vehicles and i should take the car privately to Hi-Q for shock test. I went to Hi-Q and paid R100 for a shock test. To my surprise the shock test concluded that 3 of my shocks were bad and that was causing the vibration making it noisy. I went back to Hyundai Umhlanga and asked if my car shocks carried a warranty. The Technician said they only cover shocks were oil is leaking out.
I was frustrated by this response because shocks are an important part of your safety in car. And they warranty procedure is stupid. Also i been complaining from day one of purchase of my car. That should carry weight has i believe my shock were worn out on receipt of my car and Hyundai's 101 check before they gave me the vehicle was not 100% has i still found issues after they gave me the vehicle. Hyundai put my life at risk driving a vehicle with worn out shock all this time.
This is very Poor customer service from Hyundai All round and I don't wish for anyone to purchase a hyundai has the customer after service is ****. We could loose our lives because they do not do a 101% Quality performance check before selling a vehicle to anyone. They just use the 101 point check as a front to attract customers.
