Painful experiences at Hyundai Boksburg
We had the most unfortunate opportunity of doing business with Hyundai South Africa. I must from the onset also indicate that no other dealership demands that it's salesperson buy the gratitude hamper for any client EXCEPT Hyundai. Our experience is as follows.
We wanted to trade in a Hyundai i20 and was offered a Mercedes A200 which was in Cape Town. We liked the vehicle and was pretty approved for the finance on it. The vehicle landed in Boksburg and though we went to view the vehicle, the salesman, Trevor, insisted we take possession of it. This was on 29 May 2020. He promised that the valet would be done, tyres would be replaced, the road worthy would be done, the windscreen would also be replaced and the minor chips and dents also seen to. We took possession of the vehicle and could not get the vehicle insured due to the cracked windscreen and we had to travel for work as we are essential service providers. We drove the vehicle into another province foregoing the risks as our services was required to combat covid 19. When we approached the salesman again he was seemingly ******** of when anything could be done. He knew nothing. We were told GP windscreen would replace the windscreen and after a long wait we decided to contact them ourselves, and was told that Hyundai owes them money and they won't do anything till the invoice is settled. We reverted to our salesman. Eventually we were left to co-ordinate this process ourselves and it was done after 3 visits with the incorrect windscreen. We were then sent to out on new tyres about a 20km round trip and was told that the supplier didn't have stock. Once again, this was supposed to have been done by the salesman. We wasted time and money. The car has still not been valeted and the excuse of lockdown is flimsy. The dents and chips had to be attended to, the vehicle was dropped off on Monday, July 27th and we had to call the manager, Martin, on Friday to inquire in the vehicle. I was promised to get the vehicle by the afternoon 4pm or earliest on Saturday morning. Not having another vehicle to collect my car, I requested if it could be dropped off and he obliged with a driver by latest Saturday morning. At around 12:00, I decided to call the dealership to inquire about the vehicle and requested to speak to the Manager who we expected would be more helpful than the salesman, and he was not available and had left. His contact details could not be provided, I then asked for the dealer principal, who was also not available nor could his contact details be made available to me. Even Ministers in Government give out their cellphone numbers and they are not a profit based institute but a dealer principal, who's business depends on clients like us, is inaccessible to the people who actually keep his business afloat. The receptionist, returned the call and told us that the vehicle is ready for collection and they close at 14.00.
I have been buying vehicles for years from various dealerships and never had I experienced such tardiness. The salesman, Trevor, told us that at Hyundai, they (salesman) foot the bill for the hamper, imagine this? This will most certainly be the last time we deal with this company as our experience leaves much to be desired. We do hope that other customers don't have to deal with this level of incompetence as we had to.
