NO NOT BUY HYUNDAI!!!! EPS ONLY LASTS 45000KM!!!!!!!
I will never ever consider Hyundai as any means of transport ever again. they supposedly have a 7 year 200 000km warranty but will not honor it if you miss just one service which if you look at it factually does not even make sense. My wife and i bought a 2019/2018 Hyundai i20 brand new we were the first and only owners of this vehicle, we serviced it yearly up until the service plan ran out, it currently has approx 45000 km on it. This past Wednesday the power steering packed up and the vehicle basically became undrivable, dont think you can just top up the powersteering fluid... oh no... Hyundai thought it was a fantastic idea to make use of an electric power steering, installed in such a way that you wont be able to reach it or make repairs to it... this morning it went into the dealership so that they can have a look at it and then get back to us. I just received the call from the Hyundai Service Centre in Kempton Park, informing me that the whole steering column would have to be replaced. and the service lady telling me oh sorry sir but your warranty no longer qualifies because you missed your last service so it is going to cost you R35000 !!!!! So let me see if i get this right, first of all i am sold a brand new vehicle that we look after very well, the KM on it is very low considering that this vehicle is now almost 6 years old with only approx 45000 km on it. the recommended service interval is 15000km or once a year (once a year is over servicing if you consider the vehicle age and current KM, thus less than 7500 km per year) If Hyundai are selling vehicles with steering that will only last approx 45000km DO NOT BUY IT!!!!! I AM NOT HAPPY, THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!
