MALPRACTISE, LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM AND DCISIMINATION, PART 1
It all started with my vehicle making a funny, vibrating sound and losing power. One of my ignition coils burned so I bought one at Midas to replace it but it was still not responding. I then decided to take it for a diagnosis at hyundai in Polokwane because I was there on work commitments. I was advised after diagnosis that the problem lay with coils and spark plugs which all needed to be replaced. I was quoted R7300 and a few cents which I paid R5000 towards as a deposit so they could start with the job. I was advised that they would work on the car as soon as they receive the ordered parts. Fast forward, the car was "fixed" and thus made arrangements to pick it up on a Tuesday which I did. Upon my arrival, to my dismay, I was informed that my car was not fixed. First of all, the technician who worked on my car refused to come explain what was wrong with my car citing that he doesn't know how to explain. A different technician or mechanic then came and informed me that the car is still misfiring, that euc nr 4 was still misfiring. They said I would have to wait for them to run a compression test to check if the problem is not in the cylinder or something to that effect. Of course I was upset because this whole time they are not updating me and I was told my car is ready. Mind you , I needed to drive out to Pretoria at that particular moment. I obviously moved from Gavin's desk because of the poor service and was referred to the workshop manager whom I complained to. He requested an hour of my time to deal with the issue of a compression test. All I got when I indicated that his technician refused to explain what the issue is was "oh, I was not aware". Anyway, I was told almost 2 hours later that they did not find any fault in the car except a smell of something that burned. They said they suspected fault with the wiring thus advised me to take my car and GO FIND an approved auto electrician to look into the wiring. They gave me a job card (attached herein), advising that euc nr 4 is misfiring and that engine leaks must be checked. I obviously asked where I would find an auto electrician and to my shock and dismay both technician and Gavin told me they don't know. I further asked them to refer me to the ones their dealership use and again nothing. The technician said he knows of a place in Polokwane. Mind you, it's a place where he thinks I can get help. Not a place they work with. I took my car obviously and drove back to Pretoria. The first thing that is questionable is the fact that hyundai, my car manufacturer put my car on a diagnosis machine but was unable to diagnose the problem. Furthermore, they changed all 4 coils and plugs but the car still had the same problem. A replacement which I paid for by the way. Then to make matters worse, they are not able to refer me to a partner that can assist. They didn't even bother to do an after service to find out how everything went. So I ask, are you telling me that you don't have qualified technicians who can assess your cars and diagnose the problems that your cars are having? What about the leaks you mentioned on your jobcard? An electrician must fix that? Is your diagnosis machine not able to pick up problems in the vehicle? If not who must when you are failing as a manufacturer? Also, you are unable to refer me somewhere if the service is outsourced? Don't get me started on the lack of communication on your end. That was accurate when you were still diagnosing and quoting then you stopped when you secured your deposit. I now had to call each time to find out what's happening. Moving on, I got an auto electrician to assess the car and he almost instantly confirmed that the problem is actually the computer box. It needs to either be fixed or replaced. I subsequently took it somewhere else for a second opinion. This time to one of your technicians and he also advised the same. Both the technician and electrician tested the coils, the newly fitted ones as well as the ones that were extracted from the car and advised that they are all perfectly fine. There was absolutely no need to change them. The reason why number 4 is misfiring is because the fault is from the computer box. They checked the wiring as well , no fault there. Mind you, I paid for this, both technician and electrician. So again I ask, how did your dealership not pick it up and furthermore, how do you replace what is not broken? Mind you, the coil that burned was replaced before I brought the car in, lest we forget as mention earlier. Now tell me what needs to happen moving forward. What is more frustrating is the time I am losing out on because of this and the money I could be making now. I am a sales consultant who relies heavily on the car to move around from one place to the other for meetings and deliveries. I am and have lost money having to pay for the car that I was using while my car was with you and for a problem that is still not fixed. I am further losing money paying for an auto electrician and technician to look into the problem that you supposedly fixed, EVIDENTLY NOT. Please advise on how to proceed.
