Indignant treatment by Hyundai Strydom Park

Don't service your car at Hyundai Strydom Park if you want good service for your car and yourself. I am not sure if it's my gender, race or stature that caused the lack of demonstration of common decency.

I was incredibly hurt by the indignant treatment I received from Hyundai Strydompark. They seemed to go out of their way to ensure I felt insignificant after 5 years of being a client there.

I serviced my car at Hyundai in December 2018 after my car failed to start. I informed the person who recieved my car that the service was motivated by a battery failure as advised by AA. I spent about R6,700 on this service and they made no metion of the battery.

My car wouldn't start last Tuesday morning and was towed to Hyundai. I was told I needed a new battery. I didn't understand why they had not picked up the issue in December and asked to speak to the manager. I am yet to speak to the Manager after numerous calls to Hyundai. I eventually went in yesterday morning after a department manager failed to call me back on Saturday - we had agreed that he would call me on Saturday at 1pm.

I saw the manager who promised to call me at 1pm, he is the service manager. He blantly told me he didn't call because they close at 1pm, with no apology at any inconvenience caused, since he had agreed to call me at 1pm. When I got to the service centre, he didn't even bother to greet me when I walked passed him. I was directed to a car sales manager when I got to Hyundai just after 11am and that manager then called in the service manager.

I left Hyundai feeling ramsomed to pay the R1,600 I was quoted after the service manager said they could jump start the car but it could die at any time. This after the sale's car manager said you can't jump start a damaged battery. I got quoted R900 this morning for the battery where I do my wheel alighnment.

It is especially hurtful because I went in on the Monday for a free car wash - They called me to come collect my car when it was not ready for collection in December. The gentlemen who brought my car from the wash said I should have the battery checked - not let's check your battery since we have been servicing your car since you bought it- and the next morning my car wouldn't start.

Asking for an explanation and potential solutions to assist me seemed to have been too much from Hyundai after 5 years of being a consistent client.
