I would definitely advise anybody looking to buy a Hyundai vehicle to consider this and think twice before where you spend your hard earned money.
Giving Hyundai Automotive South Africa (HASA) a one star rating (wish it could be zero) because of terrible service and deceiving warranty.
Bought a demo model (3000km on the clock) i20 2020 model in July 2020.
Obviously when buying a new car one takes a lot of things in consideration before you spend your hard earned money. One of these things is the warranty of the car. With the warranty being one of HASA’s biggest selling points, as it provides security for you as the owner of the product and ensures a good resale value of the car.
In January 2021 I noticed rust on the boot panel of the car close to where the rear window is fixed to the panel. Went to Hyundai Bellville and the warranty officer (Christi is her name, and her service was excellent) informed us that this will luckily be covered by the warranty and I could bring the car in as soon as I am ready. The catch is that the process take about two weeks.
She also informed me that HASA does not provide loan cars or any means of transport for the period, because of COVID regulations. Now this is something that I do understand in a sense, but in this case I do not agree with as I can easily and instantly take any car on the Hyundai showroom floor for a test drive.
After consulting the warranty policy and contacting customer care I do understand that HASA is not obligated to give a loan car. But the policy does state explicitly that “ HASA warrants new Hyundai vehicles against defects, defective materials and workmanship, AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER”
Now after speaking to Byron Brett at customer care, he came to the conclusion that I will not be at cost at the end of the month because of this situation. Please Byron or HASA if you read this, tell me if you find the error in my calculation below:
(Monthly downpayment of vehicle + Cost of Transportation for two weeks ) > (monthly downpayment of vehicle)
This means that at end of the month I have a greater cost to cover.
BECAUSE OF HYUNDAI’S ERROR.
At this point I am obviously mad, but more disappointed in for the fact that I put my trust and hard earned money in them and they did not deliver to what they sell their warranty or products as.
I would definitely advise anybody looking to buy a Hyundai vehicle to consider this and think twice before where you spend your hard earned money.
