HYUNDAI VEHICLE PAINT PEALING DUE TO LACK OF PRIMER/UNDERCOAT

Good Day, we bought a Hyundai i20 11/12 years ago, the car is still in mint condition even though it is out of guarantee. About 2 months before the initial lockdown we noticed that the paint on the boot area above the window was starting to bubble, as the lockdown started and a month or so passed the bubble started pealing and now we have a huge patch above the boot window, below the window and on the back passenger door that is pealing, The main complaint is that when the paint peals off, there is no primer on the meatal, it is clean shiny metal, we took the car to 3 different businesses that do spray painting just to get an opinion and they all said that there is no primer underneath the exterior paint. Keeping in mind there is not a spot of rust anywhere on the vehicle.

I contacted Hyundai in Port Elizabeth and asked them if they could assist, the reply i got was that the car is out of warrantee and the best they can do is refer us to a company that will either fix or respray the car but at our expense.

this is not a neglect problem, or a problem caused by damage done to the vehicle, this is just bad workmanship according to me and now Hyundai is not willing to take responsibility for the problem.

I did ask the gentleman that i communicated with via email if he has a number for me to contact the company in Korea as that is where i believe the vehicles are manufactured, i was told that he speaks for Hyundai SA and that he cannot assist me any further.

If I am not happy with the reply he gave me I am more than welcome to contact the Ombudsman and see if I will have any luck but he doubts that.

Firstly i would like to know: 1. Has there been any other similar complaints launched on Hellopeter, or if someone knows of anyone that has a similar problem with a Hyundai vehicle. 2. Is there anyone out there that has advice as to how we can go about to try and solve this problem. 3. We now have to have the entire vehicle re sprayed as the paint is bubbling all over, and it is going to cost us an arm and a leg which we cannot really afford, but to maintain our vehicle and ensure that it lasts another couple of years, what else can we do.

How can a Company/Manufacturer as big as Hyundai just turn around and not take responsibility for POOR WORKMANSHIP ON THEIR SIDE.

REALLY, REALLY, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM SUCH A LARGE INTERNATIONAL COMPANT, I REALLY EXPECTED BETTER!!!
