Date: 15/02/2024 I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the ongoing issues I have experienced with my Hyundai Bus purchased in 2022. Since the purchase, I have encountered a series of challenges that have not only caused significant inconvenience but also considerable financial expense.

Initially, at just 15,000 km, the first set of tires showed signs of wear and required replacement. After reporting the issue to Hyundai Witbank, the vehicle was sent to Pretoria for inspection. The technician suggested that the problem might be due to aggressive driving or road surface conditions, which I find unreasonable given the limited use of the vehicle and the conditions under which it is driven.

At present, the vehicle has 64,000 km, and I have already replaced four sets of tires. Hyundai Witbank recently acquired a wheel alignment machine, and I have been bringing the vehicle in every two weeks for inspection. However, the alignment machine has been out of service since December, which has further compounded the problem. Each time the vehicle is checked, the wheel balancing is found to be off, requiring constant adjustments, which is not normal. If the issue were only every 10,000 km, it could be understood, but it is unacceptable for this to be happening so frequently.

Furthermore, the suspension rubbers at the rear were replaced at just 35,000 km, which is highly unusual, especially considering that the bus is primarily used to transport school children, with no heavy loads. The headlights also frequently fail, and each replacement costs R250, which is becoming a recurrent and unnecessary expense.

Additionally, the alternator produces an unusual noise, and after having it inspected and a part replaced, the issue persists. I have been informed that the alternator needs to be replaced entirely. The battery also failed, and when I contacted Hyundai South Africa, I was informed that they do not have a replacement in stock. Furthermore, they quoted R22,500 for a new battery, which I find excessive. I have replaced the battery twice, and the service providers have confirmed that the alternator is causing the problem, yet Hyundai has not taken responsibility for resolving this issue.

These ongoing issues with the vehicle are not only a frustration but have become a financial burden. I expect the vehicle to be repaired and for Hyundai to take responsibility for the recurring faults, especially given the extent of the costs involved.
