Hyundai Staria Elite 2022 – Rear Window Shattered Spontaneously, Warranty Claim Rejected

I am extremely disappointed with Hyundai South Africa regarding a serious safety issue on my Hyundai Staria Elite 2022 model, which is still under factory warranty.

Without any accident, impact, or external force, the rear/boot window suddenly shattered on its own. The vehicle was being used under normal conditions, and there was absolutely no reason for the glass to break. This is not wear and tear, nor customer misuse.

I reported the issue to Hyundai expecting it to be handled under warranty, especially given that this is a safety-related defect. However, Hyundai has refused to assist or take responsibility, offering no reasonable explanation or solution.

A rear window does not shatter “for no reason” unless there is a defect in the glass or installation. This raises serious concerns about build quality, safety, and Hyundai’s after-sales support, particularly for a family vehicle.

Request Hyundai South Africa to take accountability and resolve this issue

Based on this experience, I expected far better from Hyundai and cannot recommend the Hyundai Staria or Hyundai’s after-sales service.
