Hyundai Springs - The worst dealership to ever purchase a car from

On the 31st of August last year, I purchased a Proton Saga 1.3 from the Hyundai dealership in Springs. The car had low mileage and I was impressed by the price. The staff were pleasant and very helpful on the day of the purchase.

To my dismay, the day after the purchase, the car's engine light went on. I immediately informed the dealership and I was told it was just a matter of resetting the light with a certain part in order to switch off the light but otherwise, they were certain the car was in perfect working condition. I then took the car in for the necessary repairs to be done. Mind you, I live in Northriding in Johannesburg. I took the car and left it there. It sat there for 9 days without being repaired and I had to call in to check constantly without progress.

The dealership told me that the part was being imported and that I could collect the car and they would call me to bring the car back in once the part was imported. I have been in constant communication to date with the dealership and to date, the part is not yet there. According to their wording, it is being "imported". I have been driving the car for 5 MONTHS now with an engine light on.

Now, to make matters worse, I took the car in for diagnostics to be done seeing that the dealership was acting suspicious and the report came back with an error message showing that there is a problem with the car, thus explaining the engine light being on!!!!!!!!!!I informed the dealership and they have now gone silent. How rude!!! They insist on having telephonic conversations with me, i guess to avoid any further liability! I am so dissappointed!

My predicament is now that if a real problem is to occur with the car while the engine light is on I would not know as it is continuously on.The car is defective.

Hyundai Springs has told me on numerous occasions that they were importing the required part. There has been no update on that and now it has become clear that theywere hoping I would just forget about it and stay with the engine light issue.

I thought buying a car at a dealership would guarantee good service. I thought I would be safe from being **** to and ignored. However, I was wrong. I am gravely disappointed. I have asked Hyundai to either refund me or replace the car and they have ignored me and yet they have exposed me to risk by misinforming me about the true state of the car and making me drive a defected car for five months. As it is, I continue to pay for a defected car that I am too afraid to drive not knowing the true state of the car and with an engine light on.

The dealership on the other hand now does not want to do what is ethical and lawful and they are playing dirty games like not responding to any of my emails and giving me calls on the side to "discuss" the matter. How is it acceptable that my hard earned money goes towards paying for a car that is defective? This dealership is not proffessional or ethical!!!!
