Hyundai South Africa Complaint
On the 9th of February 2022, I purchased the Hyandai Grand i10 at Eastrand mall Branch, assisted by salesman Mr. Jacob Tshambu. A few months down the line I noticed stiffness/fault with the reserve gear where it would have a grinding sound every time. When I reported this to the salesman, he advised any dealership would be able to assist in this regard. So I took the vehicle to the Sandton Branch because it was closer to work. It was taken in for the day and from here on it was downhill. Not sure what they did because when my partner collected the vehicle it was not accelerating nor did the clutch work as it used to. We took it back and they advised that they tighten the clutch, a temporary solution of pulling the cable was rolled out and the car was never the same there after. This I know because other issues aroused as not only was the reverse gear a problem but also gear 1 & 3. They make a scratching noise when gears are shifted or the gears would get stuck and not shift properly into the next. When I took the car for its 1st service at Bedfordview, I explained the problem. Bedfordview Hyundai referred me back to Sandton, the lady at Bedfordview advised that the gear cable was pulled too much and a new one had to be ordered as this is not how it should be for a new car. Her words were: "The state of the cable is similar to that of a very old car. We returned it back to Sandton and the matter was still not resolved. We decided to take the car to Hyundai Weltervreden for the 2nd service in hope that they will resolve the matter, they advised that the loosened the clutch. This too a temporary fix. We are under the impression that Hyundai would like for the maintenance plan to go out of force (which is at 45k and we at 43k currently) so that this becomes our issue to resolve whereas, the vehicle had an issue from the beginning, caused by Hyundai itself.
