HYUNDAI FOUL PLAY AND FAULSE ADVERTISING

on the 25/06/2016 hyundai trade centre east rand place a vehicle on an online auction. it was a 2005 hyundai terrican 2.9 CRDI with a trade value of R73300. This vehicle was discribed as "seven seater vehicle does not start. please establish own cost of vehicle did drive in fault recorded on diagnostics as cam shaft sensor fault" I then spoke to spoke to a Bronson Nielson who was the contact person on equiring on the vehicle. I then mentioned to him that we are a dealership based in Cape Town and if he could best decribe the vehicle to me, he assured me that the overall condition was in a good condition other than the fault that was recorded.

i then called hyundai to get a quote on the sensor which amounted to just over R10,000

i then managed to purchase this vehicle off the online auction for the amount of R49500 and had it standing at the premisis untill we could arange for transport to truck it up to cape town.

eventually we got it up to cape town and it was droped off at the workshop with the logistic truck. I then immediatly noticed that this vehicle was not a seven seater as advertised, already now disponded as my main reason to have purchased this vehicle was firstly being a seven seater and secondly being a diesel suv.

already disponded i had them check oil and water before attempting to start. we discovered that this vehicle had no water and could not hold water as ther water pipes was completly brocken off behind the head. and a pool off water was the result after attempting to fill the radiator. my machanic replaced the hose and alluminum pipe. we the eventually ran diagnostic to find no fault code for came shaft sesor. we then attempted to start this vehicle, resulting in the engine shaking immensely with no signs of starting. we then thaught the vehicles engine mounting were worn out but discovered that the gearbox was only being held together with a few bolts to which didnt belong to the vehicle in the first place and could be remove by hand ans wasnt even fastened properly.

my machanic suspected that the vehicle had a blown head gasket and did a pressure test and as he diagnosed it, so it was.

I then got hold of Mr Bronson Nielsen and he assured me he would speak to management but that i shouldnt stress as they would sort this issue out as we have bought many vehicles from them before and had no issues with us. he never got back and i had to play cat and mouse with him as he said he was busy doing a course but he had spoken to management and i should get a quote to sort it out.

i then had the head removed and found that the vehicles cause for not starting was that the vehicle suffered from immense overheating and even melted the pistons.

which led me to believe that this vehicle could not have driven into hyundai eastrands delership at all unless towed in. I called Bronsen again and presented this new discovery, he could only respond by saying that they got the vehicle from a dealer.

i then took this infomation to True bore engineering and the did an engineers report and a quote of over R50000 aswell as a quote from Korean car parts for a second hand engine that cost R44000 excluding labore. i presented this to him and he verbally told me they can compensate me with R14000 which cannot even cover the parts cost for this repairs.

i then forward this to my legal advisor and they have tried contacting the MD of hyundai with this unjust matter and no body has responded.

in conclution i have asked Bronson to take this vehicle back under faulse advertising and he had told me that his superiors would not take to kindly to that. and would not be able to refund my R49500 aswell as my transport cost.

it has been five months that this vehicle is just standing in my workshop depreciating with nothing being done and no efforts to being made by Hyundai Trade Centre Eastrand.
