Hyundai bad product
The rating for Hyundai on this forum speaks for it self. I want to share my experience with this manufacurer. In Feb 2011 we bought my wife a new Hyundai iX35 2.0GLS Petrol. This vehicle had a problem since the first day which was a severe jerk when changing gears. (Almost give a person wiplash) After taken it in to the dealership where we bought it numerous times needless to say came back the same. It was then decided by Hyundai to replace the ECU which we waited for approx. 3 months. After installation nothing has changed still the same problem. The car was even inspected by the Koreans during their visit. The vehicle has been taken to a dealership in the Rand region. Came back without any solution to the problem. Then i turned my attention to Hyundai head office. After consultation and appointment with their technical manager which driven the vehicle himself agreed that there was a problem. I was even told by the dealer principle and he forward me a letter signed by the CEO that it was a characteristic of the iX35 which i did not accept. In the end Hyundai decide to offer me a new replacement vehicle or refund me my money. Seeing that my wife really wanted the iX i agreed to replacing it but we decide not to take the petrol again but opted for the diesel. After waiting for about 2 - 3 months for a diesel to arrive we eventually took ownership in Sept. 2011 of the new vehicle. Then started our problems all over again. Before the vehicle was due for its first service it started to go into what they call "limp home mode" without any indication lamps or other form of warning. Again we took the vehicle in numerous times without any success repairing it. Feedback we received was we can't find anything wrong. Needless to say we start getting very annoyed with this product. After the vehicle was doing it again when we were near the dealership i drove in this limp mode straight to them. After the dealer principle drove the vehicle himself they agreed that there was a problem. It was decide by Hyundai to replace the turbo which was done under warranty. Luckily for us after that we had to wait till the vehicle has done approx 60,000km before experiencing a clutch problem. The clutch was replaced under warranty. The vehicle had its last service with the agents on 22 March 2018 with the odometer reading 73293. On 14 Feb 2019 the vehicle left me stranded next to the road, no power and smoke all over the place. The vehicle odometer now stands at 79885. I called the nearest Hyundai agency which happens to be Hyundai Silver Lakes which informed me they are not allowed to came out i must bring the vehicle to them. I had the vehicle towed to my house. Seeing that it is no longer under guarantee i took it to a automotive workshop close to my house. The next day they call me and informed me that the turbo shaft was broken. It came as a real shock as the vehicle is primarily driven by my wife the turbo was replaced under warranty as well as this vehicle only done approx 6592km since its last service with the agents. The automotive repair centre that replaced the turbo, serviced and cleaned the inter cooler cost was R 19900 as to Hyundai Zambesi cost of R 39,000 for the turbo only. Now i am really up with this product and decided to give Hyundai SA a call. I have spoken to a person by the name of Tyron at their customer care division and explain my situation as i have put it here. He asked my detail and said he will contact me. He did contact me but Hyundai will not take responsibility for this problem as the vehicle was out of warranty. So please all potential vehicle buyers be aware of this attitude as well as product. HYUNDAI WILL NEVER EVER SEE ME AGAIN AND I AM SURE TO REPLACE THIS VEHICLE SOONEST.
