Horrible experience at Hyundai Springfield Park - Never buy from ************ dealers

My experience with Hyundai Springfield Park has been extremely disappointing, stressful and traumatic. On the 19th of November 2025, I test drove a mini cooper. The car drove well, and I was happy with the car however I requested another test drive as we did not go very far the first time due to the fuel being on reserve. Riyaan Goldstone was the salesmen who assisted me and was extremely responsive to my messages and requests. He even contacted me after hours to get my documents so that they could vet my application and get preapprovals and they also requested I bring in my car in for assessment/valuation. They offered me R75000 as trade.

On the 20th of November my application was approved, however I was still undecided about the car as it was R289 000, and I was concerned about the monthly repayments. Riyaan first offered me R15000 as a cash back if I purchased the Mini. I asked if he would increase the cash back to R20 000? I stated he would speak to his manager Spamandla and get back to me. Later that day I received a voice note from Riyaan stating, "he spoke with Spa about the cash back and he’s ahead for it and that he would see me at 2pm". I received a call from Spamandla later that day, he said he had spoken to Riyaan and he had a plan to drop the installments. I could not understand what he was speaking about and opted to see him in person at the dealership. This is when he explained that I did not need to put down a deposit as the bank did not require any deposit from me. He explained that I would receive R75000 for my vehicle + R20000 cashback which equaled to R95 000. I should hold on to the deposit and try and save up R5000 to make up R100 000. After 3 month I should contact my bank to make an arrangement to pay in these funds and request they recalculate my monthly installments. If I opted to pay in the R95 000 from the start the bank would give me a higher interest rate since I was borrowing less from them.

After test driving the car again and returning to the dealership, I noticed the front drivers side tyre was not a run flat tyre and requested Hyundai replace this with a run flat tyre that matched the other three Dunlop’s which was on the car as the car does not come with a spare tyre and I don’t want to have any problems later on. Riyaan agreed. He immediately requested quotes and said the tyre was expensive approximately R5500 for one tyre.

On the 21st of November 2025, Riyaan contacted me again as he wanted to seal the deal. I requested that they change the tyre and then I would take delivery of the vehicle. Riyaan got back to me and said that this tyre was not in stock however he has ordered it. He advised me to collect the car and as soon as the tyre was in stock, he would let me know. I happily agreed as I was excited about the car.

I took delivery of the car on Saturday the 22nd of November 2025, since then I’ve been having endless problems with Hyundai Springfield. Monday 24th November 2025 - Riyaan advised that I should come in to have the tyre replaced. upon arrival he said that his manger has not signed of on the tyre as yet. I asked about when I would receive my money to which Spamandla denied ever agreeing to the R20 000 cash back and then stated that if I wanted that money, I would need to add it into the finance. This did not make sense to me as this would increase the finance on the car and would be a loan that a cashback. I told him to cancel the deal, give me my car back and take the Mini back. He refused stating, my car had already gone to the auction. I called Riyaan and he also agreed that the R20000 was part of the deal and not part of the finance. I called my brother who previously worked as an "FNI" at another dealership. After speaking with my brother Spamandla agreed to sort this mess out as I had grounds to cancel the deal and was within the cooling off period. Spamandla said he would speak to his Dealer Principal and get back to me. Spamandla never got back to me.

On the 1st of December 2025, I went into the dealership and insisted I speak to the DP as I wanted this sorted out immediately. I explained the problem to Hitesh Gosai and even played the voice note I received from Riyaan. he called Riyaan and Spamandla into the office. After some back and forth arguing, Hitesh said that either Spamandla or Riyaan would need to sign an AOD. He told me he would sort this out and get back to me the next day as they were getting ready to close for the day. The next day Hitesh did not call me back until I called the dealership and requested, he call me urgently back as he was in a meeting. Hitesh called and said that they will not pay the cash back as it was not part of the deal. I then again requested they cancel the deal and that I would find another car to purchase from a proper reputable dealership. He refused and then proceeded to email me a copy of my purchase agreement and that I would only be paid the R75000 on the 3rd of December 2025. I did not receive my funds on the 3rd of December. On the 4th of December 2025, being extremely frustrated, I again called the dealership this time giving them a piece of my mind. I received payment on the 5th of December 2025.

Riyaan also informed me that the mini was sent to BMW for a service when it was traded in and that it also had undergone a 125-quality assurance inspection and had the balance of motor plan. On the 3rd of December 2025 the oil warning light came on. I called BMW and they stated that the vehicle would need to be brought in for inspection and after they would do a service. I was also required to pay R1750 to BMW for the inspection and to transfer the motor plan on to my name. I also needed a copy of the natis document. I had to follow up with Riyaan several times before he eventually sent me just a snip of the document and then after the full picture. During the inspection at BMW, it was picked up that the top engine mounting was broken.

Since then, Hyundai Springfield has refused to honor any part of the initial agreement. On the 5th of December 2025 Sphamandla Mgobhozi emailed me stating that my tyre (Hankook) was ready for fitment. I responded requested he stick to the original agreement and ensure that they supply the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 195/55/RF16 tyre. On the 6th of December 2025, I again sent a follow up email to Spamandla Mgobhozi requesting feedback to which I have not received any response to date.

8th of December 2025, I spoke to Riyaan and requested for my disc and number plate to which he said they needed a bit more time to get it and that I should enjoy driving around without worrying about getting speeding fines. 11th of December 2025 the temp plate expired, I again informed Riyaan that the plate was expired. 15th of December, I messaged Riyaan again this time informing him that either he or Hyundai Springfield would be held liable should I receive any fines. His response was "No Problem." 19th December 2025: I followed up again with Riyaan who responded stating that they are still waiting for the plates. the next message stated they can only do the hankoo tyre. I have been stopped twice by the police and questioned about the expired temp plate. After explained my situation to the police they let me off with a warning. I have also tried reaching out to Mark Torrance, one of the heads of operations however he has not responded to my WhatsApp messages or answered my calls.

Hyundai Springfield has given me endless nightmares from the word go, going back on their word, they lack professionalism in every aspect. The main reason I decided to purchase my car from this dealership was because of the name on the wall HYUNDAI which inspired confidence thinking that this was a reputable dealership.
