Floor mats not properly fitted (2020 mats used in 2021 model)
I bought a Hyundai i20 (1.2 fluid-2021 model) last year towards the end of the year at Casseys Auto Benoni Ford (dealer). It was a Demo car with +- 4000km with 7 years warranty and maintenance plan. The car was delivered to me before the 20th December last year. I can't remember the exact date. Beginning of February, I took it to the car wash as usually. When they removed the small mats inside the car to clean it; I realized that the FLOOR MATS were not properly fitted. It is more like they used staples to fit it underneath the seats and dashboard. I called the dealer (Casseys Auto Benoni Ford) to inform them about the problem and how to go about it as it was hardly 3 months the car delivered to me. I sent them pictures of the floor mats that were not properly fitted. They advised me to make a booking to the nearest HYUNDAI so that the problem can be fixed as the car is under warranty as well as maintenance plan. I made a booking at Hyundai East London (Ronnies Motors). The car was inspected and the Technician advised that the car had a factory fault. They used 2020 model floor mats to the 2021 model that's why they did not fit properly (size not the same). They said my car will not be fixed there in East London because I didn't buy it there which was a bit strange. They advised that I must call my dealer to make necessary arrangements on my behalf. I called the my sales consultant at Cassesy Auto to try and make necessary arrangements so that the car can be fixed. They said to her the mats are not covered by warranty and that was the end of it. At Cassesy Auto they are still trying to help but I am impatient because I am paying for the car that has a warranty yet Hyundai is doing nothing about it. I ma not happy at all about this. I failed to understand why Hyundai cannot fix it's factory fault because this has nothing necessarily to do with Casseys Auto Ford(It's not their product). It's their product for goodness sake and to my understanding how is it possible that the fault was never picked up when the car was manufactured. To me it simple means that quality and other relevant tests are not properly done at Hyundai end of story. I love this new i20 so much. it is such a beautiful and a nice car, BUT this issue is totally NOT acceptable and I am not happy for paying for something that contains defects. I hate the fact that most people are attracted to it and I have to explain the FLOOR MATS story every time they are looking at it's interior. My wish is that Hyundai fix my car as soon as possible shame because I love it. For further clarity or details I can be reached on ***.
