FAULTY Hyundai
Good afternoon To whom it may concern.
I bought Hyundai grand i10 fluid sedan purchanced in January 2023 at Hyundai-N1 City.
Two months of driving the vehicle I started to hear a rattling noise in a low speed. I took the car to Hyundai-Plumstead which was the branch closest to me and one of the technicians said the rattling came from coins laying in the side console of my door. I wasn't happy as I left the dealership and the problem persisted. I drove from there to Hyundai-N1 City and asked for a technician to drive with me. He said it's a common problem with this model it was a pinging noise coming from the motor. I was obviously upset because Hyundai-Plumstead disregarded the problem entirely. I went back to Hyundai-Plumstead telling them what the other technician had said and they booked my car in to to have my spark plugs regapped. It was done left the dealership with the same problem. I then saw on Hyundai-Plumstead website a review with someone with the same issue and same model and a whole back and forth. I again asked them if they were able to fix it as I wasn't willing to be the car they used for trial and error basis. Hyundai-Plumstead manager Edgar later said they're waiting on feedback from Korea. They called me claiming to know what the issue was and that they had the software and that I should bring the car in. They used software from another model and again regapped the spark plugs. I again was persistent as to why the noise hasn't gone away and they called and said they had the software and I should bring the car again. Still the issue persisted. I was fed up and went to see the dealer principal at Hyundai-Plumstead as I was now driving a car for 8 months with the same issue. The dealer principal said I would receive feedback within a week and still till today I am always the one calling them. Some time around January the reverse camera would just stay in while driving at random occasions and some times the car just wouldn't start. It was so random when it happened. Still while driving with this rattling noise I now became concerned that this issue now was causing more problems. I booked the car in at Hyundai-Plumstead in March they again tried to fix this rattling noise and said it happend only on cold start which I knew wasn't true. They decided to replace the timing chain in hopes that his would fix that noise that only now got worst. They called said the noise was worst and that my car had to over night. They suggested I replace my battery as the year warrenty on the battery has lapsed. I did that still all the problems remain. They sent my radio away I was without it for 2 weeks it came back reserve camera still went on in drive. They later sent someone to my house and fitted a new radio and still the problem persisted. Two weeks ago I called the sales agent and he advised me that the engine wasnt supposed to be opened up so soon and that I should make contact with the bank.
I am honestly so tired of the back and forth with the incompetence with this dealership. I honestly felt I was done in. Having to push a brand new car at any random moment and being without a car when it goes in only to have it come back with the same problems only worst or more problems.
Another side note I have images of the car 3 days old and it was my first car so to me it was perfect. Someone reversed into me in February and I had the rear driver side door replaced at an RMI approved panel shop. They told me that the back bumper was abit shifted and that there was over spray on the mud flap indicating that the car was in an accident prior to me getting it.
I last had correspondence regarding the matter and the Manager Edgar said he will no longer be dealing with me as I asked what is the way forward. He said if I want help I should call head office or the ombudsmans if I am not happy with the way it's being handled. I am driving a car that has so many problems that they can't seem to fix a rattling noise that they supposedly don't have answers for until the next 8 months and according to Edgar I already drove like this for 8 months I can wait 8 months more. Im driving a car wit H so many mechanical issue that's supposed to be new. Not to mension my steering and gear lever is already peaking. Hyundai you honestly dropped the ball here. Cape Towns staff are more for up selling and conning customers than doing what is right to the brand and loyal customers.
I honestly feel as though I was done in and I wasn't disclosed this information because I didn't know that I should ask. I hate this car and model. I don't know if it's the brand or just poor after sales customer care.
