Faulty component

I took my i10 in tot Strydom Park Hyundai for its 45,000 kms service. A week later coincidentally the brake lining came away from the brake shoe on the rear of the car and my brakes failed. The pedal went to the floor and the handbrake lever pulled up to the top of its reach. The brakes were original from new. They had not needed nor had been replaced in any way. I took the car back to Strydom Park Hyundai where they found the fault and fitted the new brake shoes on the the rear brake.

They charged me R1400 for the repair. I complained that it was a component failure, the lining had come away from the shoe. The lining had was fine on service the week before and had disintegrated. My life had been put at risk. The car has a 5 year 150,000 warranty. They insisted the repair was for my account.

Hyundai showed no concern. If it had been any other make they would have probably sent the faulty part back to the manufacturer to check.
