Faulty car within days – dealership refusing fair resolution
I purchased a Nissan Magnite from Hyundai East Rand in September 2025. Within one day of collecting the vehicle, it developed an engine-related knocking sound and had to be returned for repairs.
Since then, the vehicle has had ongoing issues, including an oil leak which caused it to fail a roadworthy test, and it has spent extended periods in the workshop. I have been left without reliable transport while still paying for the vehicle.
In addition, there were delays in the change of ownership, which prevented me from renewing the licence disc, forcing me to drive with an expired disc that was not in my name.
When I approached the dealership for a resolution, I was advised to refinance another vehicle and carry a financial shortfall. I declined this, as the issues with the vehicle are not of my making. After this, I was refused further assistance.
I have now escalated the matter to the Motor Industry Ombudsman (MIOSA).
I am extremely disappointed that my first car purchase has turned into such a stressful and unresolved experience. I am simply seeking a fair resolution.
