Faulty Car Keys (2010 i30)
I purchased my car, second hand from the Hyundai Brackenfell branch in 2013 (with around 32 000 km).

A year later, the key snapped in the ignition while trying to turn it on. Approaching my local branch (Diep River), they told me there was nothing they could do about it, as keys are only insured for 20 000 km.
I resorted to my spare key (unused), which after a few months of use broke in exactly the same manner.

When calling the Diep River branch, they told me to call the Hyundai Head Office, which I did. The head office told me I was misinformed and had to settle this with the Diep River Branch. After many weeks, I finally got a reply back to my email explaining the situation; saying that I have no recourse through the branch, and nothing can be done.

I find this highly disconcerting, as the car keys clearly had design faults or were faulty. A new Hyundai key costs around R1000, and a generic key costs around R500.

Needless to say, I will no longer use the Diep River branch, and am extremely disappointed with Hyundai's service.
