Extremely disappointed with Hyundai’s after-sales service

I purchased my 2026 Hyundai i20 Executive on 31 January 2026, choosing Hyundai because I trusted the reputation of the brand and expected reliable after-sales support, particularly when it came to parts and repairs.

Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing.

I was involved in an accident on 16 July 2026, and my vehicle has been unavailable to me since. The repairer initially estimated that my vehicle would be ready by 27 August 2026, but this was not possible because the required parts had not arrived.

The handling of the parts delay and communication has been particularly frustrating:

* On 19 August, Hyundai had estimated that the parts would be delivered to the repairer, but this did not happen. * On 20 August, the repairer contacted me to confirm that the parts had still not been received. * On 21 August, the repairer sent me an SMS advising that they had requested Hyundai to contact me regarding the delay. No one contacted me. * I had to follow up with the repairer myself on 25 August, after which Johann Lombard from Hyundai contacted me, explained the delay and assured me that he would keep me updated. * Since then, I have received no further communication from him.

I understand that parts shortages can happen, and I am not blaming Hyundai for the accident. My frustration is with the length of the delay, lack of communication and lack of ownership in resolving the situation.

I have now been without a vehicle that I purchased as a brand-new 2026 model only months before the accident, and I have had to repeatedly chase for information that should be proactively communicated to me.

I have also requested a courtesy vehicle for the period that my car remains unavailable. I was recently contacted by Nonhlanhla Nkosi, who advised that Hyundai could not assist because my vehicle is not at their dealership and that they still needed to check with Lombard.

This is frustrating because my circumstances and request were already clearly explained in my correspondence. I appreciate that there may be internal processes to follow, but I believe Hyundai should take ownership of assisting a customer who has been without their vehicle for such an extended period.

What I am asking Hyundai for is simple:

• A clear update on the outstanding parts and their expected delivery date; • A realistic and confirmed date for completion of my vehicle; • Proper and proactive communication until my vehicle is returned; and • A reasonable courtesy-vehicle solution for the duration of the delay.

I chose Hyundai because I believed I was choosing a reputable brand that would support me when things went wrong. Unfortunately, this experience has seriously affected my confidence in the brand.

I am not looking for excuses. I am looking for accountability, communication and a practical solution. I hope Hyundai will take ownership of this matter and resolve it.
