Deeply Disappointed by Hyundai Plumstead’s Handling of My Warranty Claim
On 22 October 2025, my vehicle developed a radiator leak and was towed to Hyundai Plumstead. I was told that due to a backlog, my car would only be assessed on 24 October.
There were no proactive updates from the dealership through the Hyundai Workshop Chat — I had to keep calling to get any feedback. On 29 October, I finally received an update that the radiator was damaged and needed replacement. When I asked if this was covered under warranty, I was told they would confirm. Later, I received a message stating that the warranty would not cover the repair because “it seems there was previous work done on that part.”
This explanation is unacceptable. I purchased the vehicle directly from Hyundai Plumstead, and all servicing and minor work (even light replacements) have been done exclusively through their workshop. It is therefore impossible for any “previous work” to have been done elsewhere.
I formally disputed this on 30 October, copying both the dealership’s management and Hyundai South Africa. To date, I have received no meaningful communication or accountability from Hyundai Plumstead’s management.
Today, 3 November 2025, I was informed that the radiator has “physical damage with blades and *****s inside” and was told to claim from my insurance — a completely different explanation from the one given before.
This constant shifting of reasons feels like an attempt to avoid honoring the warranty, and I am not only frustrated but deeply disappointed by this experience. After years of loyalty to Hyundai, this level of service and lack of transparency have completely turned me off the brand
