Atrocious service from Hyundai Port Elizabeth
I booked my Hyundai Accent in for a 90,000 km service on Thursday morning 9th January 2025. In the afternoon I was told that my side shaft seals needed to be replaced (nothing new, as they had mentioned it at the 75,000 km service, but I didn’t have the money to replace them then). They then told me that my warranty covered them and they would be ordered and replaced as soon as they arrived.
On Friday I had no feedback from them until late afternoon when I started getting worried and communicated with them on the WhatsApp chat that the service advisor had opened. She then informed me that the seals would arrive on Monday 13th January.
On Monday I chatted with them on WhatsApp with no response from them. On Tuesday I continued the chat, still with no response, and even tried phoning 3 times, and each time the switchboard lady couldn’t get hold of the service advisor and my line got cut. Eventually on Tuesday at around lunchtime after I vented my frustration in their live chat on the website I was contacted via the WhatsApp chat by the service advisors supervisor who apologised for the lack of communication, informed me that the seals arrived Monday evening and that my car was due to be done today. She told me that she would let me know as soon as it was done. At around 5pm on Tuesday I whatsapped them again after not hearing from them asking about my car and pleading with them to have it ready on Wednesday morning so that I could work (I’m a medical sales rep). I still didn’t hear from them on Wednesday morning. At around 10am I decided to go to Hyundai and finally got my car at around 11am.
1. The lack of communication is very bad on the part of Hyundai PE and shows a high level of unprofessionalism. 2. Why did somebody not tell me at the 75,000 km service that my warranty covers the cost of replacing the seals? I could’ve done them then and saved myself the trouble I experienced this last week or so. I have lost 3 days productivity and earnings (just over R3,000) and I’m sure Hyundai will never compensate me for that.
