After sale service non existent

I purchased my Hyundai I20 model from Hyundai Brackenfell Dealership.

As per there advert which the salesman had emailed me Low mileage vehicle available in show room condition!

At the time of the purchase I was pregnant and I did the purchase on my own, that salesmen obviously saw an opportunity…..pregnant lady what does she know about paint work and cars etc…….so here is my story.

Last year I noticed a bubble in the paintwork on back door, I took it in for them to have a look at what is going on. This is what was reported…….

This letter serves to confirm that on Wednesday 24th of August 2016 a Hyundai i20 – registration CF79207 belonging to Mrs Monica De Kock was inspected by myself + panel beating + spray painting staff. The left rear door had a large (7cm) “bubble” on the top ridge below the window + to the rear of the door.On breaking the “bubble” of loose paint, manufacturer undercoat (Primer) was clearly visible.

There are no signs that the door has been worked on or sprayed. Furthermore, the paint (affected area) has not discoloured ruling out the possibility that a chemical has been spilt on the car.

In my opinion it appears to be a factory fault & I strongly recommend that the customer contact a Hyundai dealer as soon as possible.

Sincerely

Gary Hoek

Owner/Manager Auto Detail Centre, Tygervalley.

We had this repaired last year at our own cost as I was highly pregnant with my second child and didn’t have time to approach the dealership (As one must always put up a huge fight for a few months before dealerships do anything!!)

but now there are more bubbles forming and popping open on my boot which has resulted in the paint peeling off.

I had the vehicle at Hyundai Brackenfell’s ‘approved’ panel beater and they said that work had been done on the boot.

I emailed all supporting documents indicating that work had not been done on the boot since I purchased the vehicle from Hyundai Brackenfell.

This included a report from my insurance company and a report from the dent and scratch policy cover which was given by Hyundai.

The only answer I get from the dealership is “I have tried to assist in this matter but I cannot do much seeing that this vehicle is out of warranty”

Since I have purchased the vehicle I have convinced two family members to purchase Hyundai, I hope they do not get the same after sale service as what I have received.

I have always spoken very highly of Hyundai but due to this I will NEVER EVER advise anyone to purchase ANY Hyundai vehicle EVER!!.

The main reason I am super upset is that I know I had no paint work done to the areas where the paint work was bubbling and that the dealership is trying to tell me that I am lying.

I have a feeling that this vehicle was in an accident and that the dealership omitted sharing this information.

I hope Hyundai South Africa will be able to assist a loyal customer.
