Refund for January 2016 Rent

I have 12 month lease agreement with Huurkor for an apartment at Die Werf 39R which commenced on the 4th of January 2016. I went to collect the keys on the 6th of January 2016 but moving in inspection on the apartment was only done on the 7th January 2016 and it was realised that the door was broken and the matter was reported to Huurkor immediately and follow ups were consistently made. The door was not fixed for 2 weeks and three days, meaning that it was only replaced on the 24th of January 2016. I was not able to move into the apartment for safety reasons since the door was broken. I have paid for January rent which is about R3470 and Huurkor are only willing to give me R1000 of the rent out of the 2 weeks and 3 days I have not been able to move in. I want a proportional amount equivalent to the number of days the place was unoccupied.
