Warning to anyone thinking about buying shoes by Hush Puppies

I bought a R600 pair of Hush Puppies from Kingsmead Shoes in December. In September I noticed that the soles of the shoes were completely disintegrating. I contacted Kingsmead Gateway and they said that the shoes came with a 6 month guarantee so there was nothing they could do. Spoke to Sam (Senior Supervisor) at Hush Puppies HO. She said the same. When I asked Sam if the Hush Puppies brand should have a life expectancy of longer than 6 -9 months before the soles start to disintegrate she agreed but said that my issue needed to be taken up with Kingsmead. I asked her for a Manager/Director contact but unsurprisingly she told me that this person was not available! I since did some research and found that a lot of soles are made with PU which disintegrates if not worn. Herein lies my issue. I bought these shoes to wear to work. I was wearing them everyday Wednesday through to Sunday (5 days a week) and yet the soles still disintegrated. Apparently PU soles start to disintegrate when they are even in the boxes. So how long have they been stored and the disintegration process had already started before an unsuspecting consumer is sold these shoes?! I feel that these are a defective pair of Hush Puppies and they should have been exchanged or is this the quality of the Hush Puppies brand? Buyer Beware!
